On Sunday night, a baby panda was born. This baby panda was a giant panda, whose species is
endangered. No one has actually
seen the cub in person yet, but they have been monitoring Mei Xiang (the
mother) and her cub through their "panda cam". In fact, so many
people were watching the "panda cam" to get a glimpse of the cub that
the online video was jammed.
Martin Rand III (with CNN) wrote this article on September 17. I previously knew that giant pandas were going extinct, but I didn't know that there was only 1, 901 in the world. I'm sure anyone who loves animals would be appreciative of this article. Especially since it's taken so long for this baby panda to be born. It is also good to know that there is an organization that is helping prevent giant pandas from going extinct. The giant panda species is actually one of the most endangered species, so you can imagine the excitement this baby panda has caused.

That's so cool that a giant panda was born! Im glad that this species is still populating, so that we can have them in our lives. If they went extinct, that would be a huge loss. Since there are only 1,901 in the world, its a good thing that there are soon going to be even more! :)
