One day at a rodeo, a clown tried to get a laugh out of the crowd. How might he do this? Not by Knock-knock jokes, but by making a racial comment about none other but the first lady of our country. The joke was along the lines of this: "Playboy is offering Ann Romney $250,000 to pose in the magazine and the White House is upset about it because National Geographic only offered Michelle Obama $50 to pose for them." According to the article, racist jokes about Obama in National Geographic have been going around for years. These words upset the crowd, and the "jokester" was believed to be announcer Ed Kutz. However, after looking deeper into it, the speaker of this turned out to be one of the clowns--Mike Hayhurst. The rodeo is reacting to this by starting to check the script before the rodeos begin. Also, they are going to make Mike make a public apology.
This article was written by Julia Hickey. I don't know anything about this author, but her point of view on the subject is that she thinks it was not the right thing to do for the clown to say this. The article's purpose is to inform people of something that is going on in the world and to show that people don't always think before they speak, which can get them into trouble. This article is written for most audiences, and it is a positive influence on the audience, because it shows that you have to think before you act to refrain from bad behavior.

Definitely a good lesson to learn. No matter what the issue is you always have to think before you speak, and show some respect to our First Lady.
ReplyDeleteWe should not only show respect to our First Lady, but we should be sensitive to those around us, instead of just making jokes because you think they are funny.
ReplyDeleteNo one should be making any racial comments anymore especially about our first laday!
