On Wednesday, a violent earthquake off the Pacific coast of Guatemala killed at least 48, destroyed roads, and sent debris crashing onto vehicles. Doctors treated 150 others for injuries and 29 people were declared missing. This catastrophe left hundreds without homes. This earthquake was recorded as the strongest to hit Guatemala since 1976. Photos on the nation's disaster relief Facebook page show rubble crashing cars and damage to the ceiling at a school in the department of San Marcos. About 60,000 people remain without power because of the quake. Fortunately no children were in the collapsed school buildings. The government issued a "red alert" fearing any powerful aftershocks. I hope that if there are any aftershocks, they won't be powerful enough to cause any more serious damage.

That's so sad that the earthquake caused that much damage and took so many lives. It would be terrible if there was an aftershock! Especially for those without homes!
