Argentina Lowers Voting Age by: Rachel Devine

Argentinian lawmakers passed a new bill on Wednesday, lowering the nation's voting age from 18 to 16 years old. Representatives in the lower house overwhelmingly voted in favor for the bill. Many people are pleased because they think that giving young people more opportunities to participate in politics is good. However, others don't agree. They think worrying about political campaigns will interfere with education.
I think passing the bill was a great idea! I know that if United States lawmakers were deciding whether or not 16 year olds should be allowed to vote, I would want the bill to be passed. It's a really good way for teenagers to be exposed to politics. I think the United States should do this too!

  1. This is definitely a nice way to get teenagers involved in their government and country. I saw this article, and some opposers thought they changed the law so the Argentinean president would be reelected.
