Dengue Fever Epidemic -Hadassah Lai
In Pucallpa, a city in Peru, hospitals have registered about 800 cases of dengue fever. Dengue fever is spread and caused by mosquitoes. This was brought to the attention of the health authorities in Peru. Although it is now only concentrated in one area, Latin America is greatly troubled about this fever epidemic. This epidemic has sadly claimed six lives, and many people are taking no risks. They are very careful to stay healthy and fit. The government has spent millions on the case of the dengue fever, and this is worrying officials concerning the economy.

Mosquitos spread lots of diseases! Hospitals must be overcrowded in Peru, I feel for them.
ReplyDeleteI agree with sylvie!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like the West Nile epidemic in North Texas, but worse. 800 cases is a lot, and I hope there's a cure, or at least a prevention vaccine.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they could get rid of still water like over here in Texas when West Nile Virus broke out.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, that fever will get exterminated over there and it won't travel to America through that one meddling mosquito.
