What had happened to Halappanavar was grim to say the least. Back in October, Halappanavar checked into a hospital complaining of a back pain. Once officials examinded her, they realized she was suffering a miscarriage, but refused to give her an abortion. Sadly, Halappanavar ended up dying of a blood infection caused by the miscarriage.
Several Irish people spoke out about how abortion laws should be changed. Every single person marching those streets reached a unanimous opinion about what they believed was right. They think that the law made my the Supreme Court saying that "abortions are allowed when there is a real and substantial risk to the life of the mother." was not carried out.
Hopefully the marches will find what they're looking for and Savita Halappanavar will recieve justice.
Analysis: I found this article really intriguing. I can say that I am pro choice but only to a certain extent. There is a place to draw the line when it come to topics like this. I think that the hospital is definitely responsible for the death of Savita Halappanavar. If they had just carried out what the Supreme court ruled, there is a good chance that Halappanavar would still be here.
Here, Halappanavar, 31, is pictured:

I really hope that the hospital will be fined or at least enlightened, because this isn't right. Something is wrong in the justice system if the laws are half-finished or vague.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Sylvie. I was appalled when I read this article. Laws need to be done full on, not half-baked. Also, what was that hospital thinking?! I agree with you, they should be taught better. *cough cough* FINED! *cough cough*
