Ireland People Rally for Rights by Kendall Ray

Very recently in Ireland, a rather miraculous thing occurred. Thousands of people, men and women, united together in the streets of Dublin to protest the unlawful death of Savita Halappanavar.
What had happened to Halappanavar was grim to say the least. Back in October, Halappanavar checked into a hospital complaining of a back pain. Once officials examinded her, they realized she was suffering a miscarriage, but refused to give her an abortion. Sadly, Halappanavar ended up dying of a blood infection caused by the miscarriage.
Several Irish people spoke out about how abortion laws should be changed. Every single person marching those streets reached a unanimous opinion about what they believed was right. They think that the law made my the Supreme Court saying that "abortions are allowed when there is a real and substantial risk to the life of the mother." was not carried out.
Hopefully the marches will find what they're looking for and  Savita Halappanavar will recieve justice.

Analysis: I found this article really intriguing. I can say that I am pro choice but only to a certain extent. There is a place to draw the line when it come to topics like this. I think that the hospital is definitely responsible for the death of  Savita Halappanavar. If they had just carried out what the Supreme court ruled, there is a good chance that Halappanavar would still be here.

Here, Halappanavar, 31, is pictured:   Savita Halappanavar, 31, died of septicemia, or a blood infection, at a hospital in Galway.

  1. I really hope that the hospital will be fined or at least enlightened, because this isn't right. Something is wrong in the justice system if the laws are half-finished or vague.

  2. I agree, Sylvie. I was appalled when I read this article. Laws need to be done full on, not half-baked. Also, what was that hospital thinking?! I agree with you, they should be taught better. *cough cough* FINED! *cough cough*
