Domaine Javier, a 24 year old woman, was rejected from California Baptist University solely because she is transgender. She had received her acceptance letter and planned to start class this month, but then the university expelled her for "committing or attempting to engage in fraud or concealing identity". On her application, she listed herself as female. Domaine has identified as female since age 13, so she saw no problem with applying as female. However, the baptist university didn't want a transgender student, so they expelled her on the grounds of fraud.
I think it is ridiculous that someone can be expelled from a university just because of their gender identity. What makes this discrimination even more repulsive is that Domaine was accepted to the university and all set to go, and she was expelled after they found out about her being transgender. There was nothing wrong with her intelligence, credentials, or her behavior. This sounds a lot like the racism before the civil rights movement, except instead of discriminating against a person because of race, they are discriminated against because how they identify themselves. I know that not everyone shares my views on this issue, but it is neither the job nor the place of bigoted people to decide who gets into college.
This is TERRIBLE. How dare you deny someone something they deserved solely because of the way they choose to identify themselves? Some people may not agree with it, but that does not mean that she should be expelled!
ReplyDeleteThis is terrible! I agree with you completly! how could someone be expelled by how they identify themselves
ReplyDeleteyour completely right, no one should be even so much as looked at funny for how they identify in regards to their gender, and being flat out discriminated against is repulsive i can only hope that some other university will hear about this and offer her a spot instead.
ReplyDeleteYou can't tell someone what gender they are if she wants to be a girl then let her be. This is wrong especially since it its a baptist school. You would think they would be a little more compassionate but I guess not
