New Tactics To Prevent Suicide by Cruz Rendon

In the spirit of National Suicide Prevention Week, the USA is using social networks such as Facebook to prevent suicide from happening in young Americans and military recruits.
"It takes the entire community to prevent suicides. It's not just one individual," said U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin. "We all can play a role."
On Facebook you can now report posts as 'suicidal.' Once done so, the person who made the comment is sent an email so they will be able to chat with aa person who specializes in suicide.
This goes with world geography because, we are studying USA and Canada.  In the US, suicide is growing and growing and it has an impact on people. Suicide numbers have also grown in the military which is a big part in the US. Please,  get involved and help your friends out.

  1. I think this is a great way to reduce to numbers of suicide. Many people have some type of social network and facebook is a common one. This will help show poeple with suicidal thoughts that there are others who care.

    1. I agree. Since everyone has internet access one way or another. Either public or private devices, they can help stop or at least minimize this.

  2. I think you should share this because it would really help get rid of the percentages that commit suicide! Good job!!

  3. Suicide is, indeed, a serious topic especially among teenagers and young adults, and has been for quite a long time. I really feel that the more people say that they are beside those who even remotely have suicidal thoughts, the less suicides we will have.

  5. The fact that people are noticing the rise in suicide and taking action probably helps those who so think of suicide. Now, it is much easier for them to find quick help when they really need it.
