Changing Reality for impoverished Teen Moms By Halle Van De Hey

Changing reality for impoverished teen moms

In another cover of the CNN hero’s CNN talks about the teen moms in Columbia, and how they are being helped. Catalina Escobar is trying to make a changed by helping the impoverished teen moms through he foundation (Juan Felipe Gomez Escobar Foundation); So far she has helped more than 2,000 teen moms. CNN chose Escobar as one of their top 10 CNN hero’s for 2012. Escobar is very thrilled to receive this award because it means recognition for her foundation, and help so many more people in need. Escobar wants recognition for Colombia; Escobar thinks that Colombia needs just as much recognition as Haiti, India, or Africa.  Escobar is going to use the $50,000 reward for her foundation to provide supplies, counseling, and job training.

I think article is a great way to show people all around the world that so many people are suffering and there is nothing they can do about it. What is even worse is that they barely have the recognition so that people will provide things to help them stop what is happening all around them. That’s why having the Juan Felipe Gomez Escobar Foundation and Catalina Escobar being picked as a CNN hero is so important. It gets them the recognition they deserve, and helps them stop what is happening all around Colombia.
