Demonstrators Bang Pots and Pans to Protest Argentina's Policies by: Rachel Devine

On Thursday, there was a huge protest in Buenos Aires. Hundreds of people gathered and banged pots and pans to protest against the government policies in Argentina. The angry citizens wanted to draw attention to growing problems in their nation, including increasing crime rates, inflation, and political corruption. The key issue that drove all the people to the streets was the possibility that President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner could make new changes to the country's constitution and run for re-election. Some of the signs at the protest  said, "Enough Insecurity," "No to re-Election," and "Liberty." The protests against Argentina policies is going global. There were reportedly protests in Miami, New York, London, Madrid, Paris, and Rome. One protester, Franciso Bugallo, said "The constitution should be respected, not be reformed." With all the stir, reporters say that the protests will definately influence the mid-term elections in Argentina.

I think it is great that people are taking a stand for what they believe in. If the United States was having similar policy problems, I would want to protest too. I hope everything works out for them and justice is restored.

  1. If this began to happen in the U.S. we are lucky to have a system of government where the different branches check the other branches to make sure one isn't getting to much power.

  2. I think it's good they protested this way instead of violently.
