Earthquake in Guatemala by Elaine Hennig

A powerful earthquake hit Guatemala last Wednesday, killing at least 48 people and injuring many others. At least 29 people are missing. The earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.4, was felt throughout central America, and it was the strongest to hit Guatemala since 1976. Though it was not as destructive as that one, it caused many to lose their homes and other damage to roads and schools. Fearing powerful aftershock, the government issued an alert to the entire Pacific coast warning people to take precautions.

This article is very informative, and it tells only facts from direct sources. However, it was written almost a week ago, so some of these facts might have changed, such as the number of people dead, injured, and missing. The article has a negative influence because of the death and destruction, but hopefully Guatemala is recovering from the earthquake.
