"Guatemala quake" by Sophie Goetzmann
On sunday, an earthquake hit the Pacific coastline of Guatemala. The earthquake was a 6.5 magnitude. It killed 54 people and left thousands without anything. There were four after shocks, that were recorded at 4.5 to 5 magnitude. It was 17 miles deep and its epicenter was off the coast. 1.2 Guatemalans were effected by the quake. This was the strongest earthquake they have in 36 years.

Oh no! This earthquake must have been devastating. I really hope Guatemala will recover quickly.
ReplyDeleteThey must not have been very prepared, if they haven't had an earthquake of this magnitude in thirty six years. I think all countries should have specific earthquake relief plans since there have been so many more lately.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sylvie. Yes, it is a great catastrophe that this happened, but we have to take into account what every country needs to do to prepare for these kinds of things. Insurance, you know? ESPECIALLY if you're Guatemala. My heart goes out to all the people that were affected by this disaster.
