Athletes choke in the polluted china air by bette rathjen

Several athletes have been competing in sports events in China for several years including the 2008 olympics. Majority of the athletes found competing in the polluted air very hard and some even withdrew from the events. Since the air in China is so polluted, they really need to do something about it. Beijing hosts many supporting events because they get the sponsorship and support of local government, but they don't think about the air pollution and the harm it does. China really should fix their pollution issue because it is bad for anyone in general, unless they are used to it, but it is still bad for their health. If China could limit the number of factories or if they could run their factories on something more environmental friendly these issues might begin to get better. I think it is awful that something like this is possible, but there is a solution. :)

  1. Maybe they should host world sporting events somewhere where someone who isn't a local won't suffocate because of the pollution.

  2. I hope that China can pass some legislation and get a handle on their pollution problem, because it's really sad what we're doing to our earth. I heard that before the 2008 olympics they had to force a lot of people stop using cars in Beijing to try and clear up the air...
