Ironically, opening day brought inclement weather and stormy skies. In the Biblical story, God commanded Noah to build a boat large enough to save two of every animal and Noah's family while God destroyed the rest of the Earth in an enormous flood.
Huibers was inspired to construct his ark after a dream he had 20 years ago in which the Netherlands was flooded. Today, he hopes the replica will educate people about history and faith, and encourage people to read the Bible while spreading the word of Christianity.
This ark is quite amazing! It really shows that if you put your mind to it, you can make your dreams come true. The ark is allowed to receive 3,000 visitors a day. Visitors can see life-size displays of animals, as well as visit live animals like rabbits and parakeets. The ark really brings the Biblical story to life; even if you don't believe in Christianity, you have to admire the effort he put into making this ark.
