A soyuz spacecraft carrying a russian, canadian, and an american too off wednesday, for the international space station, where the astronauts are to spend half a year in orbit.
This soyuz TMA-07M built in russia took flight from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
The crew of astronauts included the following men: canadian Chris Hadfield, U.S Tom Mashburn, cosmonaut Roman Romanenko, U.S Kevin Ford, russians Oleg Novitsky and Yevgeny Tarelkin.
The television station of the United States space agency NASA, broadcasted the launch. After Ford, Novitsky and Tarelkin complete their mission in March, Hadfield will become the first Canadian to command the space station. Romaneko was seen off by his dad, Yury, who set a record for time spent in space during a mission in the 1970's. The six-man crew will celebrate christmas, New Year's Day, and Orthodox Christmas. "If despite all the arguments provided by scientists, this apocalypse still takes place, the ISS crew will be the only surviving earthlings," the Federal Space agency said in a statement. " Fortunately, that is just a fantasy."
Hadfield displayed optimism about the future of the future of the industry and said the voyages to the moon, which last happened 40 years ago, set an important precedent.
"What we are doing today as a group is continuing through that door and learning the things we need to do and taking one small step at a time so that we can better understand where we are in the universe," He said. (AP, Reuters)
I personally hope the astronauts have a safe trip not many get to do what these brave men are doing right now and it gives me inspiration that we all have the ability to do what we love as long as we try. I hope the astronauts are having an amazing adventure out there and I'm proud about the entire thing working out successfully. One day i would adore to visit the moon as well. Everyone should keep a strong heart forever and always to achieve everything they dream of. Sometimes the most extraordinary things in life are the simplest that we do not take advantage of.
That's pretty cool.
