The 2 month long civil war going on in Syria has been very rough on not only the people fighting, but also the regular civilians thrust into this horrendous situation. One man, a father of 4 and once a merchant of thread, is now the head of logistics of his unit. Due to the fear of sniper attacks, he, his crew, and the news reporter and her crew were forced to move about through holes punched through solid-concrete walls in between buildings. Just a few blocks away, shops and vendors are open for business, but with considerable price hikes. Women are eager to tell the film crew and news reporter about how they are grateful for the ready access to food, but complain that the prices have been pushed too high. One woman said "If one has breakfast, there is not enough money for dinner". Dozens of childrens' lives have been forever changed. The few that got on camera were so scared by what they had seen that they had to ask if it was safe to go outside and play, or even go outside. This particular group of boys has seen much carnage, such as children having spontaneous amputations due to explosions. They were so moved that they have all sworn to become doctors in the future, so that they may help those hurt by other wars and attacks on the population.
This war has not only demolished a considerable amount of urban landscape, but has also scared already jaited civilians of Syria and nearby cities. Regular citizens are being forced into militarian positions, giant machinery must be used to clear the streets so that ambulances and other emergency vehicles can enter where they are needed, and countless homemade guns, missiles, and bombs are becoming completely necessary just to stay safe enough to barely scrape by.
