An Australian radio station staged a prank call to the hospital where Duchess Kate was being treated ended up killing the nurse who was fooled by the call. The radio hosts involved have been suspended but this is the full story on what happened,
"Mel Greig and Michael Christian, radio hosts on the station 2Day FM in Sydney, called King Edward VII’s Hospital" about a week before the nurse was found dead. They pretended to be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles and ended up getting information on Kate's closely watched pregnancy. "The body of Saldanha, 46, the nurse who had transferred their call through to Kate's room, was found Friday." The hosts say they are shattered by the news but they don't believe that it could be their fault. But they have been suspended and many people are trying to get them fired from the radio station.
"Police said in a statement
Saturday that an autopsy would be held next week and a formal inquiry
into her death, called an inquest, would open at a future date at
Westminster Coroner’s Court."
Personally I think that all of this is a big coincidence, but it was very wrong of them to trick the poor nurse into giving away private personal information. Sadly this is what our world has come to, exposing every inch of "famous" people's lives and never letting them keep anything private.
My prayers to Saldanha's family and to Kate's baby

I heard about this I feel so sorry for her. I hope her family is ok.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your analysis. I hope her family and her baby are doing okay.
ReplyDeleteI wrote my current event on this topic too. Apparently the nurse committed suicide. It really goes to show how harmful a prank can be.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe people will try to do all of these things to receive private information. That is wrong. I hope it is not what killed the nurse.
