In the larger cities of Texas the dismissal of marijuana has been increasing since 2011. They are increasing the fastest in north Texas. From 9% five years ago to 18%-41% just last year. It appears the trend has been starting to happen statewide, but that trend doesn't mean the officers are taking it easy. They just think they should be putting more effort into the bigger amounts then lets say a joint. They think it would be wasting their time and everyone eles's.
The importance of this article is that why should they take up their time (the officer), the judge, and the whole courts for a simple joint when they could bust someone with a much bigger possession. That would be just unethical. I personally agree with them. They should just handle that possession and the person the best way the officer think it should be handled instead of going to the courts.
