Just 13 days after opening the world's highest and longest glass-bottomed bridge, located in China over the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, closes due to "overwhelming demand." The bridge was originally limited to 8,000 visitors per day but the demand ended up being ten times as much. When the spokesperson for the marketing and sales of the canyon was asked if the closing was due to accidents, cracks, or breaks, he respond with "there was no problem." The six-meter-wide bridge is 430 meters long and is over the 300-meter-deep valley that was said to have inspired the scenery for the movie "Avatar." Visitors complained that the bridge had a lot of trash everywhere and are upset that the bridge closed after patrons had already booked trips to visit the bridge. However they agree that it is right to clean up the bridge and to make the demand situation more sustainable before reopening. The announcement was made on a Chinese microblogging site along with no say on when it might be reopening and an apology for the inconvenience.
I feel that the bridge looks like a very interesting place to visit and would be a really fun place to travel to. I think the people working for the bridge should have planned on having more people originally considering the fact that this POI is just down right awesome and will definitely draw in tourists. I hope that they can get all the problems worked out soon so people can enjoy looking down at the gorgeous view of the canyon.

I also think that the people in charge of the bridge should have expected more visitors than 8,000 a day. That is a lot of people, but then again China is actually the most populated country in the whole world. I think the bridge is a cool idea though and I bet the scenery is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteat least they could close the bridge before any incidents happened or the bridge had any problems. it's great that they're cleaning it up again for visitors.
ReplyDeleteI do think they have a point, but like everyone is saying the bridge is attracting peoples attention and what's the point of building a bridge if it's not going to be used, especially as a tourist site.
ReplyDeleteThis bridge is attracting so much attention. I believe they made a safe choice to close and make sure it is extra safe.
ReplyDeleteI think it is so interesting that the bridge is attracting so many people. I feel that the workers should've expected a bigger outcome to where they wouldn't have to close down.
