Saint Teresa by: Hannah Selders

On September 4, 2016 in Rome, Italy Pope Francis held a consistory in which the canonization of Mother Teresa was approved. A canonization is when the Catholic Congregation or Church declares one who has died as a saint. Mother Teresa was nun who taught in India for 17 years. In 1946 was when she experienced her "call within a call", to give and devote herself to caring and looking out for the poor and sick. In 1979 she received her first Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian work. After her death in September 1997, in December 2015, Pope Francis declared clearing the way for Mother Teresa to be Canonized on September 4, 2016. Now we know Mother Teresa as Saint Teresa.
