Title: Obama Accused Of Creating Hurricane Sandy Using HAARP
Conspiracy theorists have this theory that Mr. President Barak Obama caused this recently damaging hurricane named "Sandy" along the East coast, & that it's disasters will help him in the elections since he'll look like the "good guy" coming to the rescue of the tragedy. My reflection on this idea is how unreasonable can one be? However, their reasons in believing this is because our U.S. Navy & Air Force are apart of the HAARP. The HAARP conducts experiments in our ionosphere & upper atmosphere. The conspiracy theorists have accused the HAARP of manipulated with the weather & causing many of the natural disasters amongst the years. They believe the government uses the Alaskan-based program to do this duty, with the help of electromagnetic waves with it.
With this information clearly stated, I still do not believe we have reached the amount of technology it takes in order to create an entire deadly hurricane as Sandy is. Obama cannot control the aspects of natural disasters, but he is doing everything possible to recover immediately from the tragic incident wiping out the East coast specifically.
New Jersey has been hit by the torturous winds & floods of this weather, for example. The governor, being a Republican, still validated the fact that Obama personally called him 3 times to see what he needed for the aftermath of the state. The governor then said he is not saying this for the elections between Obama & Romney, but just to let people know that everything the governor ordered from Obama--was in New Jersey within hours. Romney is wanting to take away national support because he believes the individual state itself should be able to support itself. I disagree with Romney, & firmly reserve my opinion within Obama's NATIONAL help for our country as a sign of our President doing the best he can.

Abortion Legalized in Uruguay by: Rachel Devine
The senate of the small South American nation of Uruguay
recently passed a bill legalizing abortion. President Jose Mujica’s signature
on the bill has made Uruguay the second nation in Latin America where abortion
is legal. The bill allows a woman to only get an abortion within the first
trimester of her pregnancy. Uruguay will join Cuba as the only two Latin
American countries where abortion is legal (other than if the woman is raped or
had incest and her life is in danger.) This bill has caused much controversy.
I support the
bill because I think the mother should have a choice of whether she wants an
abortion or not. Being a woman, if I had an unwanted pregnancy, I would like
the option of having an abortion. Although it is a controversial topic, I do
believe it’s important for them to have a choice.
Earthquake in Chile by: Rachel Devine
On October
11, a minor earthquake struck central Chile. No major damage was done, however
many citizens were very frightened and cell phone lines went down. The
earthquake had a magnitude of 5.5, which is not strong enough to trigger a
tsunami. Chile’s last earthquake in 2010, killed hundreds of people. The
Chileans were lucky no real harm was done, but this earthquake did stir frenzy.
I find
natural disasters very interesting. I’m thankful that this earthquake was not
too bad, because it would have been devastating if hundreds of Chileans would
have died. I want to learn more about natural disasters and how to measure
them. I pray that another earthquake or tsunami does not hit Chile or another
country anytime soon.

Landslide Kills Children in Peru's Jungle by: Rachel Devine
In Peru, there was recently a landslide in the San Martin
tropical forest. Heavy rains set off the natural disaster and the landslide
destroyed many houses and a large bridge. Reportedly so far, 6 people have
already been recovered and 5 have died. Residents are working with civil
defense officials and the military to find more victims in the rubble. Peru’s
government is sending humanitarian aid to help these poor Peruvians recover.
I feel very bad
for the poor families that were affected in this landslide. On top of their
economic problems, Peru now has to deal with this natural disaster. I’m glad
the military and civil defense officials are stepping in to help fix this
misfortune. I hope the Peruvians can recover quickly from this and I wish I
could help them!
US and Peru Defense Agreement by: Rachel Devine
The United States and Peru recently decided that they want
to renegotiate a 60-year-old defense cooperation agreement between the two
countries. They want to update their agreement because the two countries think
it would help them work more closely on issues such as terrorism and drug
trafficking. Updating the accord would improve the US and Peru’s ability to
conduct joint activities, do training, and other exchanges. The decision is
also part of the new US defense strategy and is hoping to further their relationship
with Peru.
I think the decision to update the defense cooperation
agreement is a good idea. I want the United States to have the best possible
relationship with foreign countries and I think the update will be good for our
country’s defense system. I’m glad we are on good terms with Peru and I think
it is smart to focus on protecting ourselves from terrorism and drug
trafficking.

Hurricane Sandy by: Milan Hamilton
Hurricane Sandy hit near Atlantic City, destroying parts of the Jersey Shore and the subways and tunnels of New York on Monday night. By Tuesday, 33 were said to be dead. 6.9 million are without power in 15 states an the District of Columbia. There are many seniors who are in need of electricity possibly because of the medical machines they use or their medicine may be kept in a refrigerator. Limited bus and airplane services resumed on Tuesday so people can continue to evacuate. According the the government the storms wind damage could cost $7 billion, but is impact as a whole could be $25 billion.
This is important because it is a hurricane that is impacting our country and possibly our family members. Although it is not occurring near us, there is still many things that we can to help them. We should pray for all of the people in the nearby areas of the storm. We should pray for their safety and that not a lot of damage was done to their community.

Hurricane Sandy kills one in Jamaica by: Halle Van De Hey
Hurricane Sandy kills one in Jamaica
In this article CNN
reports about how hurricane Sandy has affected Jamaica. 70 percent of the
island was without power. Many people are trying to do what they can to stay
out of the storm, like going to shelters, or trying to evacuate out of Jamaica.
Jamaica first experienced the hurricane last Wednesday. They had terribly
strong winds, and torrents of rain. In result of this hurricane one man has
died. The storm sent a boulder tumbling down a hill, and it killed the man
instantly. Luckily that has been the only death, and everyone is hoping it is
the last. The storm is not expected to end soon, and is expected to do more
damage.
This article is devastating,
but very informative. I think it informed me on what is happening around the
world, and it also made me realize that there are so many places around the
world being affected everyday by things no one pays attention to, like this
hurricane. This article made me appreciate everything we have because all of
these places being affected by the hurricane don’t have the structures to with
stand the water, and wont have the money to fix it after the storm is gone. This
piece of writing was very informative, and I think it was a great learning experience
for many people.

"One Child, One Laptop ... And Mixed Results In Peru" By: Sydney Magnll
Peru put aside 2million dollars for laptops for school children. The question asked is has their efforts really helped? A small village by the name of Lacachi is wondering. They haven't had any of the benefits probably because it is very tedious to get to the village. This village is way behind times, they just got electricity two years ago and are getting running water in a year. Except they still don't really have laptops. They have these basic laptops that a very strange looking and those laptops are breaking or need soft wear updates. The teacher puts them in groups to work on the computers using a special program since they don't have Internet. the computers are really bad, "The screen has a line down the middle, and on one side it's just black. On the other side it's fine, but on one side you can't see anything," the student says." They also were supposed to send a computer repair man to fix these computers in rural parts of Peru, but that has yet to happen.
I think its good that Peru set aside money for the laptops, but I think they need to make more of an effort for the rural parts of Peru. They need the computers just as much and I think someone should do something.

Bolivia and Social Networking By Kendall Ray
In recent days, many sparks have been flying around Bolivia's vice president, and not good ones, might I add. "I am always going online, and I am writing down the first and last names of the people who insult him on Facebook and Twitter," said Alvaro Garcia, Bolivia's VP. This is the comment that started it all.
Immediately, free speech fanatics spoke out. This then led to the proposing of a law to help regulate congress' involvement with social media.
Of course, this started another huge controversy. Some people think that some criticism is absolutely fine, others think that what Garcia said is completely out of line.
It turns out that out of Bolivia's about 10 million residents, more than 8.7 million have internet access. This means that they also can use Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter.
Whether you think that Garcia is alright or just utterly whack, only time will tell what will happen with this dilemma.

New President Of Mexico
Jose Lopez 4th prd
The party that has ruled Mexico for the last century has been back into power, promising a government that will be modern responsible and opened to criticism. Lots of people criticize the youthful 45 year old Pena Nieto for his young age. But he proved his young experience in the elections with half of Mexico's votes in his favor.
The PRI has ruled for 71 years as a single party which is known for coercion and corruption. But the PRI is also know for keeping a lid on organized crime, which compared to Calderon has taken about over 50,000 lives these past years.
What got most of Pena Nietos votes was that he said that he will not make pacts with the organized crime but that rather he will focus on curbing violence."we know there's some type corruption going on in the PRI with the organized crime. said Andrew Selee of the Washington-Based Mexico institute. "The question is will they ignore or go after it aggressively and create more violence."
Obamas Campaign
Jose Lopez 4th period
Obamas campaign aperes to take every opportunity ahead the second presidential debate to tell Americans what to expect from president Obama, while Romney camp has remained mum. The Romney adviser said "the Obama campaign has promised a more aggressive president Obama in this next debate''. "we expect a he'll launch one attack after another in the attempt to distract from his record and make up for his weak performance in Denver. President took a study break Sunday afternoon, and told volunteers he was "doing great" with the debate prep. But Romney said that Obama has created expectations by performing so badly. The next debate will be at hofstra university on new York's long island. why dont you see and decide which political party handles their business.
Haitians Living in Fear By Lucy Hinderliter
As if earthquakes weren't enough, Haiti is going through more struggles. Women are being sexually abused; men are being violent and threatening. The women are living in tents trying to hide from the abuse going on. They are living their lives in fear. Never knowing what might happen to them, and hoping that they will survive through this living hell. Many woman go into prostitution just so they can survive with food and shelter. KOFAVIV and other programs are working to help the women of Haiti, giving them safety, support and training so they can make money and not
have to sell themselves.

Disney to make new 'Star Wars' films by: Madeleine Bright
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A decade since George Lucas said "Star Wars" was finished on the big screen, a new trilogy under new ownership is destined for theaters after The Walt Disney Co. announced Tuesday that it was buying Lucasfilm Ltd. from him for $4.05 billion.
The seventh movie, with a working title of "Episode 7," is set for release in 2015. Episodes 8 and 9 will follow. The trilogy will continue the story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia beyond "Return of the Jedi," the third film released and the sixth in the saga. After that, Disney plans a new "Star Wars" movie every two or three years. Lucas will serve as creative consultant in the new movies. "I'm doing this so that the films will have a longer life," Lucas, the 68-year-old creator of the series and sole owner of Lucasfilm, said in an interview posted on YouTube. "I get to be a fan now ... I sort of look forward to it. It's a lot more fun actually, than actually having to go out into the mud and snow." Disney CEO Bob Iger said Lucasfilm had already developed an extensive story line on the next trilogy, and Episode 7 was now in early-stage development. He said he talked with Lucas about buying the company from him a year and a half ago, but they didn't decide on a deal until very recently as Lucas set in motion his retirement. "The last 'Star Wars' movie release was 2005's 'Revenge of the Sith' — and we believe there's substantial pent-up demand," Iger said. The blockbuster deal announced Tuesday will see Disney pay half the acquisition price in cash and half in newly issued stock. The company expects it to add to earnings in 2015. Along with the cash, Lucas will end up owning about 40 million Disney shares, which is about a 2.2 percent stake of the 1.83 billion shares that will be in circulation when the transaction closes. The deal includes Lucasfilm's prized high-tech production companies, Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound, as well as rights to the "Indiana Jones" franchise. Lucas was hailed as a cinematic visionary when the original "Star Wars" came out in 1977. But he had become an object of often-vicious ridicule by the time he released 3-D versions of all six films in the Star Wars franchise earlier this year. Die-hard Star War fans had been vilifying Lucas for years, convinced that he had become a commercial sell-out and had compounded his sins by desecrating the heroic tale that he originally sought to tell. They railed against him for adding grating characters such as Jar Jar Binks in the second trilogy and attacked him for tinkering with the original trilogy, too. Any revision in special edition or home video releases — such as making the Ewoks blink or having a green-skinned alien named Greedo take the first shot at Han Solo in a famous bar scene — were treated as blasphemy. The criticism grated on Lucas, who vowed never to make another Star Wars movie. "Why would I make any more when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?" Lucas told The New York Times earlier this year. "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," the fourth film in another lucrative franchise, subjected Lucas to even more barbs when it came to the big screen in 2008. Fans of those films were especially outraged about an opening scene that featured Indiana Jones crawling into a lead-lined refrigerator to survive a nuclear bomb blasting. Lucas was fed up by the time he released "Red Tails," a movie depicting the valor of African-American pilots during World War II, earlier this year. He told the Times he was ready to retire from the business of making blockbusters and return to his roots as a student at USC's film school, where he once made a movie about clouds moving in a desert. Kathleen Kennedy, the current co-chairman of Lucasfilm, will become the division's president and report to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn. She will serve as executive producer for the new movies. Directors for the new movies have not yet been announced. In the YouTube video, Lucas said the decision to continue with the saga wasn't inconsistent with past statements. "I always said I wasn't going to do any more and that's true, because I'm not going to do any more, but that doesn't mean I'm unwilling to turn it over to Kathy to do more," Lucas said. He said he has given Kennedy his story lines and other ideas, "and I have complete confidence that she's going to take them and make great movies." Kennedy added that she and Lucas had discussed ideas with a couple of writers about the future movies and said Lucas would continue to have a key advisory role. "My Yoda has to be there," she said. The deal brings Lucasfilm under the Disney banner with other brands including Pixar, Marvel, ESPN and ABC, all companies that Disney has acquired over the years. A former weatherman who rose through the ranks of ABC, Iger has orchestrated some of the company's biggest acquisitions, including the $7.4 billion purchase of animated movie studio Pixar in 2006 and the $4.2 billion acquisition of comic book giant Marvel in 2009. Coincidentally, Lucas owned the startup that later became Pixar, before he sold it to Apple's Steve Jobs in 1986 for about $5 million. When Jobs sold Pixar to Disney, he became Disney's largest single shareholder with a 7.7 percent stake. Those shares are now held in a trust. Disney shares were not trading with stock markets closed due to the impact of Superstorm Sandy in New York. They closed on Friday at $50.08.

Hurricane Sandy Takes Effect on Cuba- Iris Hughey
At least nine are dead from hurricane Sandy, and thousands remain injured and homeless. Many of the citizens do not have the money to afford a new house either, and are hoping to get money from the government. To add on to the stress, thousands of homes that weren't completely demolished, are without electricity! Meaning no air conditioning, heating, refrigeration of food, or light! My hopes are that people will raise money for these poor families and maybe even get organizations together to help rebuild their damaged or destroyed houses.

Face Perception Studies by Kira Bell
Fairly recent studies show patterns of face recognition. Certain parts of the brain correspond with faces and the reaction is almost involuntary, when said portion of the brain is damaged people must rely on other means of identifying people.

Bolivian Radio Journalist Set on Fire-Maddie Ash
A Bolivian radio journalist was set on fire by unknown assailants in Yacuiba. According to the staff at Radio Popular, four masked men broke into the studio and poured petrol over presenter Fernando Vidal and set him alight. When the attack happened, Mr. Vidal was doing a story on smuggling goods across the border. He is being treated for burns on his face, arms, and chest. Also injured in the attack was studio technician Karen Anza. Some eyewitnesses say that the attackers were even throwing Molotov cocktails. Vidal had been a harsh critic of the provincial government and often voiced his opinions on air, and the attack is believed to be politically motivated. Three suspects have been arrested.

Musical Diamonds in Slums by Heather McKay
In the slums of Brazil, many young people are now being taken off the streets and into music classes. These classes are being provided for free and are very intense. It is helping the crime rate drop and is giving the extremely poor children a chance at a better life in the future. Also, it creates an escape for the kids so that they can get away from their maybe not so perfect life. Music is changing their lives!

Meteorologists have been on the lookout every second of every minute, every minute of every hour, every hour of every day, keeping people updated. Since people had underestimated Hurricane Katrina, they are very well prepared this time round. Many cities have shut down including New York City, New York and other big cities. Along with mass evacuations and the rain, many cities have had power shortages causing people to panic. This hurricane is expected to be the worst. Let's all hope that it would not be as tragic as the other natural disasters.

Sandy Strikes Haiti: Amanda Kipp
For the past four days, the rains from Hurricane Sandy have drenched the south and southwest area of Haiti. The total number of deaths was 52 but this tremendous storm also led to demolished houses and ruined crops. According to the government up to 200,000 homes were damaged and there are still 400,000 people are still homeless due to the earthquake in 2010. In addition, Haiti also had a cholera outbreak only ten months after the earthquake! All of these events are worsening an alreadly suffering country. Before all of these occurences Haiti already had been having problems with poverty and slums, these things are just adding to the problems of Haiti. It seems as is nothing is going well for Haiti right now. I am praying for everybody living there and hopefully this struggling country will not continue to be beaten down by natural disasters. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/30/world/americas/yet-another-blow-to-haiti-from-hurricane-sandy.html?ref=world&_r=0

Hurricane Sandy Scaring Many by Graysha Assoun
Hurricane Sandy evoked fear in the East Coast residents. They have all been hiding in shelters with a supply of food and emergency kits. Many people are unsure of the severity of the hurricane, but they hope it is not as bad as the previous hurricane, Hurricane Irene. Many people are devastated by this hurricane, as it canceled all plans people had and put them under risk of death. Amtrak (a train service) canceled all train rides between Washington and Boston. The city of Baltimore closed down all roads only for emergency vehicles and other authorized users. Many cities and states are taking large precautions for this hurricane. More than 3,200 spent Sunday night in many American Red Cross shelters. CNN reporter Noah Garden from New York City says his neighbors deck is filled with water and saying this hurricane could easily take out the power in New York City.
Many people are scared and cautious, but with the precautions people are taking and the highly
observant residents, this hurricane will be defeated and we will go back to our regar life. Let's hope that the East Coast are safe and that no one is injured or killed this time.

Budget Cuts at their Worst
In Newark, New Jersey, budget cuts have affected the police force, by making them lay off more and more officers. Since then, violent crime has risen 18% nationwide. Suffering from an economic bind, not too long ago, Newark had hit their 71st homicide victim, and 160 officers had been laid off. However, police officers have been laid off nationwide since 2008. With the economy worsening, city budgets are decreasing, making more officers being laid off, and unsafe cities.

American Pastor Attacked in Brazil
An American pastor, 44, was attacked with a 1.10 meter wooden by a shirtless, barefoot homeless man. This happened last Friday after she dropped off her four children at school. Renee Murdoch, the American pastor, has been a resident of Barra, Brazil for twelve years and is the pastor/co-founder of the Light of Nations. She was taking a jog in a neighborhood when a homeless man, later identified as Luis Francesco de Oliverira, beat her and continued to beat her even after she fell to the ground. After the attack she was taken to hospital where they found her suffering from head trauma. Renee had several surgeries and was placed into an induced coma. Oliverira is being accused of an assault charge and he will probably take a sanity test.

The author of this article was Chesney Hearst, who is a contributing reporter for the Rio Times. It was written on October 28, 2012 which means this event was very recent. This article is being written for those who are interested in what the living conditions are for the Americans who are not living in the US. I think it shines Brazil in a little bit of a bad light but I think this is common in all countries. I learned a lot from this article and I hope Renee Murdoch recovers from her injuries.

Cars and Drugs: What Argentina didn't know? By Daizha Lankford
http://latinamericacurrentevents.com/argentina-vehicle-accident-reveals-level-of-narcotics-trafficking-in-chaco/23762/
The police actually wrote an article on October 25th about this but the public eye did not get a hold of it until today. In Argentina a deadly accident actually left a helpful hint that shocked the country. marijuana and other narcotics were found which was a reminder just how many narcotics are in the area without Government officials knowing. Questions are everywhere about the accident including (quoted by the police)
"The first question arises from where, allegedly, brought the cargo, an issue that the federal courts will try to know when to take statements from the accused.
Furthermore, some sources estimate of the investigation, which would have left the car Suran from a country road at high speed, and that by attempting to get on the asphalt, caused some zigzageos on pavement they did collide with the group, although other claim that they saw the car in question "side come Saenz Peña on route".
Another question is the role assigned to the support vehicles that brought it, and last night, at press time, were established serious doubts as to what were the reasons why the car stopped C4 and without signs or words, jumped on the road injured which left at high speed towards the Avia Terai area, by Route 16."
The main Idea of this is that if Minors and other people can easily drive around with narcotics and pass the through the borders then it needs to be resolved. This article is for everyone and can be used as a warning.

Sickness in Peru by Sylvie Lednicky
Around four hundred Peruvian farm workers fell ill after inhaling a pesticide that their company, the Beta Agroindustrial Complex, sprayed the land in which they worked. This spray, for whatever reason, affected mostly women. Two of them were pregnant. These sick workers crowded the hallways of hospitals in Ica, the closest town to them. Most of the workers were discharged the night after the incident, after recieving treatment. They were vomiting, dizzy, and in pain before things were cleared up. Their company grows food that is exported around the world. I think that the Beta Agroindustrial Complex needs to be more careful with what they're spraying on their land. This is not only because we are most likely going to eat this food, but what will happen if they kill all of their workers by accident? This is why we all need to go organic.

Helping Kids in the Slums of Paradise City by Corsica Steding
In the Paraisopolis cultural center (located in
Paradise City) there is a classical music project that is offered to young
people for free. When people join, they get a musical instrument for
free. Joao Carlos Martins who was a famous classical pianist whose career
was cut short by injuries started this project. He started the project in
search of talent, but also ended up helping many people.
Shasta Darlington wrote this article for CNN on
October 25th. Before reading this
article I had heard of organizations that help kids in poor areas, but none of
these organizations are like this one. This article is written for anyone
interested. I think that it's
amazing that this one man started an organization that helps so many kids in
such a huge way. The main point of this article is to describe what a
difference Joao Carlos Martins has made in numerous kids' lives. This
article is important, because it gives an example of one person changing the
futures of many people.

Hurricane Sandy Leaves 65 DEAD in the Caribbean - Hannah Kalan
Hurricane Sandy passed through the Caribbean leaving a rising number of people dead. The most recent count became 65 on Sunday, with 51 of those deaths coming in from Haiti, which took major damage from this disaster. Haiti was pelted for 3 days nonstop of constant rain that ended on Friday, leaving crops ruined, homes underwater, and collapsed bridges to add to the saddening loss.

Jamaica Hit by Hurricane Sandy by Elaine Hennig
Harsh winds and rain hit Jamaica's shantytowns on Wednesday, causing sever flash floods and mudslides. Hurricane Sandy is the first hurricane to have directly hit Jamaica is 24 years. As of Wednesday, only one man had been killed by the storm. He was killed by a boulder that crushed his house. This storm is especially unfortunate for Jamaica- a country with severe debt, a "crumbling" infrastructure, and shantytowns built on steep slopes.
This article leaves a negative influence on the reader. This situation would be bad for any country, but when given the context of Jamaica's economic situation, it seems even worse. Hurricanes cause so much damage, and Jamaica's situation implies that it will take a long time for the country to recover.

Squirrels on Birth Control By- Anneke Davis
The warm weather has resulted in a big increase in nuts that grow in various tree's, which has come down to a ridicoulous growth in the squirrel population. The gray squirrel in particular. Scientists and vets have given them sunflower seeds with birth control in them to control their birth rate and decrease the numbers. The squirrels destructive nature has caused quite a few problems in farms, places like that, and the killing of trees.

Death Toll for Hurricane Sandy Rises- Kennedi Mayes
"The whole south is under water." Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe said while
describing the damage hurricane Sandy has done to the Caribbean. Haiti received
the most damage and has a number of about 51 deaths out of the 65 reported
deaths and the numbers are still rising. Haiti was drenched in three days’
worth of rain and most of the deaths occurred in Port-Au-Prince, where the houses
are still flimsy little sheds because of the earthquake a few years ago.
Following Haiti is Cuba with 11 reported deaths. Luckily, the rivers have been
reported to be receding again and people are hanging their things out to dry in
the sun and gathering their bearings. Several thousand homes have been damaged
and enough bridges have fallen down to leave towns stranded. Some towns in
Jamaica have even had supplies shipped to them because they have access to
nothing.
It saddens me to hear about things like this and people can
do nothing about the terrible situation that they’re in. I send my condolences out
to the families that lost loved ones and pray that no one else will be lost
from this storm.

Today, Talking Politics is just plain nasty :Deyzya Hardeman
Do you understand how destructive it is to talk about politics in 2012? To this point we are a nation divided because of this election.
"Just ask Stacey Dash, an African-American actress who was attacked on Twitter for abandoning her support for Obama and daring to publicly endorse Mitt Romney for president. The actress, who starred in the movie "Clueless" and the cable TV drama "Single Ladies," tweeted: "Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future. Team Romney...Vote Romney." excerpt from cnn.com
If you actually think about it the nation is slowly going back to what it used to be. I, myself thik that talking politics is nasty because you never know what the other person thinks. I has people hype to vote or to stand up in America.

Swirling off the East Coast is Hurricane Sandy, which will soon mix with a cold front coming off of the Great Lakes and cause a super storm already being called the 'Frankenstorm' because of the way that it will be hitting the hardest on Halloween.
Already Sandy has done major damage to the Bahamas and more damage is expected to occur in the North Carolina and New Jersey area before merging.
Already huge evacuation plans have been made, and the Presidental Campaign stops on the East Coast have been changed to avoid the storm.

Bolivia's Decision to Monitor Social Media By: Nina Bharadwaj
A Bolivian oficial has a warning for people that criticize President Evo Morales on the internet: He is looking at what people say, and he is writing down their names.
Vice President Alvaro Linera stated "I am always going online, and I am writing down the first and last names of people who insult him on Facebook and Twitter", in reports in the Bolivian media.
These comments have been criticized from free speech supporters, but other lawmakers from Morales' Movement for Socialism party say that they want a law made to regulate social media.
A congressman named Franklin Garvizu said that it is ok to give constructive criticism, but that disrespectful and malicious comments are not ok.
Garvizu said "We are very worried because this is a case of systematically using communications mechanisms to plant hatred against the government, to harm the image of our president.
Bolivian opposition leaders disagree. They say that the government is trying to stop social networking, altogether.
Samuel Doris, part of the opposition National Unity Party basically says that no one can expect everyone to be complimented on social networks. The opposing people also get insults from officials, but they wouldn't try to stop social media. In fact, the opposing people want the vice president to get an account. They think that it will help him interact with young people.
Word about the government regulating social media has sparked major criticism in La Paz. They say that it goes against all human rights. Others say that insulting isn't good in any media, but that all people should respect each other.
Of about 10 million people, in Bolivia, about 8.7 of them don't have access to social media. There are about 1.7 million users, so many see it as a way for the government to join social media, rather than see it as a threat.
Analysis: The author of this article, Gloria Carrasco, wrote this just to inform us about what is going on in La Paz, regarding social media. She wasn't biased at all. She stated both sides of the situation, and she gave quotes from people of each side.
I don't think that social media should have to be regulated in Bolivia. It goes against our rights as humans. I mean people should be able to say whatever they feel like. On Facebook, I read posts about people insulting our government, but you don't see the government stopping social media. The government in Bolivia should just deal with being criticized. I mean they can't expect to be praised about every single thing that they do. Plus, I'm sure the government insults us humans as much as we insult them, so if people in Bolivia are going to get in trouble for talking about the government than the government should get in trouble for insulting the people. All I'm saying is that the government needs to deal with being criticized, and if they can't take criticism then maybe they aren't right for the job.

Death and Destruction in the Caribbean- Margaret Canady
Hurricane Sandy has caused 65 deaths in the Caribbean as of late Friday. Sandy, a Category 1 hurricane, has toppled trees and light posts and flooded roads, crops, and homes. 51 of the deaths came from Haiti, which has seen 3 days of constant rain that stopped only on Friday.
As a result of the 2010 earthquake, 370,000 Haitians still live in ramshackle shelters. The flimsy housing and stripped hillsides made Haiti especially vulnerable to the flooding that came with Hurricane Sandy. "This is a disaster of major proportions. The whole south is under water," Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe told the Associated Press dramatically.
Sandy was a Category 2 hurricane on Thursday when it killed 11 people in Cuba. Puerto Rico and Jamaica each reported one death.
The storm caused 5,000 houses to at least partially collapse, and ripped the roofs off of 30,000 other homes. Crops were damaged; bridges have collapsed and flooding continues to be an issue.
The damage caused by Hurricane Sandy is horrible! The people of Haiti have suffered so much the past two years; nature continues to setback reconstruction or growth. What I don't understand is the staggering number of people who are still living in shacks. The US and other countries have sent money to Haiti, but where has it gone? It make me wonder if someone is taking these donations, or something happens where it just "disappears". My heart goes out to those in the Caribbean affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Hawaii tsunami scare from Canada Quake by: Taylor Marsh
On saturday tsunami sirens were sounded in Hawaii. The tsunami was triggered by a very powerful eartquake in Canada. Luckily the tsunami wasnt as bad as everyone expected. People panicked at first when the sirens first went out, but after everyone was alerted that the waves weren't that large, things died down a bit. The evacuation prcedures were cancelled by 1 A.M. So by the end of the night, everyone could enjoy the annual Hallowbaloo festival and other Halloween parties. They didnt have to worry!

Hannah Menchu - Uruguay Plans To Legalize Marijuana
Uruguay Plans To Legalize Marijuana - By Hannah Menchu
Jose Mujica, the President of Uruguay, plans to legalize the sale and production of marijuana. It is already legal to possess or use marijuana in Uruguay. President Mujica plans to have the government control the marijuana farms and control the sale of it. This way the gangs will not make money from selling it and the government will.
The former presidents of Brazil, Mexico and Colombia support the plan. Guatemala also supports it and Bolivia is looking at ways to legalize coca leaves.
