An American pastor, 44, was attacked with a 1.10 meter wooden by a shirtless, barefoot homeless man. This happened last Friday after she dropped off her four children at school. Renee Murdoch, the American pastor, has been a resident of Barra, Brazil for twelve years and is the pastor/co-founder of the Light of Nations. She was taking a jog in a neighborhood when a homeless man, later identified as Luis Francesco de Oliverira, beat her and continued to beat her even after she fell to the ground. After the attack she was taken to hospital where they found her suffering from head trauma. Renee had several surgeries and was placed into an induced coma. Oliverira is being accused of an assault charge and he will probably take a sanity test.

The author of this article was Chesney Hearst, who is a contributing reporter for the Rio Times. It was written on October 28, 2012 which means this event was very recent. This article is being written for those who are interested in what the living conditions are for the Americans who are not living in the US. I think it shines Brazil in a little bit of a bad light but I think this is common in all countries. I learned a lot from this article and I hope Renee Murdoch recovers from her injuries.
