Falklands war general arrested for crimes against humanity
On any normal day in Buenos Aires, Mario Benjamin Menendez the army general who led troops in the Falkland War, opened his door to find the police. He was arrested along with 15 other people for their assumed part taking in 'Operation Independence' In 1876-1983. General Menendez is held responsible for leading and participating in the Operation Independence, It was the first large military operation of the Dirty War. The Operation was an estimation of about 30,000 people who supposedly disappeared but, really they were kidnapped and murdered by this group of people. General Menendez is being transferred from a jail in the capital to Tucuman, Argentina and will be put on stand in trial soon. This Article was written by Jonathan Gilbert and posted on 18 Oct 2012.
