The party that has ruled Mexico for the last century has been back into power, promising a government that will be modern responsible and opened to criticism. Lots of people criticize the youthful 45 year old Pena Nieto for his young age. But he proved his young experience in the elections with half of Mexico's votes in his favor.
The PRI has ruled for 71 years as a single party which is known for coercion and corruption. But the PRI is also know for keeping a lid on organized crime, which compared to Calderon has taken about over 50,000 lives these past years.
What got most of Pena Nietos votes was that he said that he will not make pacts with the organized crime but that rather he will focus on curbing violence."we know there's some type corruption going on in the PRI with the organized crime. said Andrew Selee of the Washington-Based Mexico institute. "The question is will they ignore or go after it aggressively and create more violence."
