Walking along Pompano Beach just north of Fort Lauderdale, a man found a softball sized eye resting on the beach.
Based on the color, size, structure, and the prescence of bone around it, experts to see the eye believe that it came from a swordfish. As the curator of collections at the Flordia Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Research Institute commented, "Based on the straight line cuts visible around the eye, we believe it was removed by a fisherman and discarded."
Genetic testing will be done to confirm identification.
