Jamaica Hit by Hurricane Sandy by Elaine Hennig

Harsh winds and rain hit Jamaica's shantytowns on Wednesday, causing sever flash floods and mudslides. Hurricane Sandy is the first hurricane to have directly hit Jamaica is 24 years. As of Wednesday, only one man had been killed by the storm. He was killed by a boulder that crushed his house. This storm is especially unfortunate for Jamaica- a country with severe debt, a "crumbling" infrastructure, and shantytowns built on steep slopes.

This article leaves a negative influence on the reader. This situation would be bad for any country, but when given the context of Jamaica's economic situation, it seems even worse. Hurricanes cause so much damage, and Jamaica's situation implies that it will take a long time for the country to recover.
