125 Mile-long Traffic?? - Iris Hughey

Sunday afternoon there was a 125 mile-long backup on part of the main highway that runs between Moscow and St. Petersburg -- the country's two most populated cities. It all began Friday, when heavy snow began falling in western Russia. By the time it finally let up, about three feet had fallen. On top of that, cafes on the side of the rode took advantage of the people stuck in traffic (very hungry after all that waiting) and raised the prices of their food! A ministry spokesman said that "(Emergencies Minister Vladmir Puchkov) is making sure that all necessary measures are being taken and that all vital personnel in afflicted regions have everything they need." So if you are ever stuck in a traffic jam and are upset, just know that it could be worse (like this).

  1. That's crazy! I'm sure everyone in the traffic was late. They should think about adding another lane on the highway since the cities are so populated.

  2. Well, I don't know about you, but if I was more than 48 hours late for something i would either be demoted, fired, or exicuted.

  3. Talk about a traffic jam. I certainly hope they've gotten out of the traffic and back home by now! They should of had people clearing the snow off the roads.

  4. This is crazy. I hate traffic jams anyway so for it to be this long I don't know how people had the patience to wait in it.
