Continental Airlines Cleared of Criminal Responsibility by: Rachel Devine

On November 29, a French appeals court decided that Continental Airlines was not criminally responsible for the Concorde crash in France. The crash occurred in 2000, and it killed a total of 113 people. In a 2010 ruling, the Continental Airlines crash was blamed on the company and one of the plane’s mechanics.  The appeals court upheld the findings of a lower court. They concluded that a strip of metal that had fallen off of the Continental jet was responsible for the crash. However, Continental still has civil responsibilities and has to pay a fine of 1 million euros.

I’m glad that they figured out that the crash wasn’t intentional. I feel very bad for all the families that were affected by the crash.  Although this was all just a terrible accident, Continental Airlines must make sure something like this never happens again.

  1. It is incredibly awful that this happened, but I'm glad they were able to clear up what happened even when it happened so long ago.

  3. It is terrible hearing about what has happened. I can't believe that it took so long for the investigators to figure out what should happen as a result of this crash. I feel so bad for the families that have been lost due to the crash, and I hope that they are okay with what the result of the investigation is.
