Tree disease in the UK by Milan Hamilton
Ash dieback is an incurable disease found in trees that has been seen in the United Kingdom. However, some environmentalist have come up with a high-tech solution to stop this disease. This disease has been transmitted by fungal spores from continental Europe. It is a threat to Britain's 80 million ash trees, which is the country's fourth most abundant tree. There is no cure or vaccination for this disease, although some are experiencing resistance to it. When it hit Denmark, 40% of its ash trees were affected. People are trying to stop the spread of ash dieback, therefore over 100,000 infected trees have been destroyed.
This is important because it is affecting Britain's trees, and if one of their major industries is lumber, than it is affecting its trade. Since they are having to cut all of the affected trees, it probably is clearing some space for farmland, however it can cause the trees to become extinct if too many are cut down.

The fact that trees are being cut down everyday is bad enough. But trees dying by themselves? That is even sadder.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for the little trees! With these dying already, we really need to watch how much we are cutting down.
ReplyDeleteI love trees! this is CRAZY. I hope this gets stopped completely. Trees are TOO important
ReplyDeleteI really hope that they find a way to fix this!! I mean trees are insanely important!
ReplyDeleteNo trees, no oxygen! what if every tree can catch this disease and it's spread around the world!?! We need those to survive!

This is a terrible disease. Us humans already make things worse by chopping down healthy trees and so trees dying by themselves just adds to the environmental downfall. I hope they find a way to stop this disease and I hope that when people in England sees trees that are starting to get this disease mention it so that the spread can be stopped.
