Family members of Alberto Fujimori, the former Peruvian president, are requesting that he be pardoned for medical reasons. He is currently serving four consecutive terms for human rights abuses. Family members say that the conditions in the prison will kill Fujimori if he isn't realeased as soon as possible. However, many are saying that it would be an insult to his victims if he was pardoned, and that he deserves to die in jail. The former president still has rabid supporters and critics in Peru. Peru's top anti-corruption prosecutor says that the conditions he is under in jail versus the conditions of his home would make little difference in his health. A final decision is yet to be made. If he had tortured my family, I would not want him to be pardoned. I see his family's plea as an excuse to get him out of prison.

If he was released, I'm sure a lot of victims and Fujimori critics would be angered and annoyed that he had gotten out of prison early. I bet he doesn't have any health issues; have any been discussed before? Hopefully he stays in jail and serves the time he deserves for abusing human rights.
