Oh Being Poor

Summary:
What's it like to be poor? Last year about 46 million people fell below the poverty line just in America. One out of every five children are poor. Writer John Scalzi knows form his own experience what it's like to live in poverty. He tells us what it was like growing up in such harsh conditions. As a young boy he would remember wearing shoes with the souls glued onto the bottom and how he felt them come off at recess. He also once stole meat from a supermarket cooked it up, ate it, and washed the dish before his mom got home. He found letters from his mom to his dad begging for child support. How long will it be before the whole nation is living in poverty?

Time and Place: This article was posted on September 20, 2012. Happening in the U.S.
Prior Knowledge:
I did know that their are many people in poverty but, what I did not know is that poverty if a very huge problem that's not very easy to fix. I didn't know that being poor could be so bad and that so many people, millions, are going through that everyday.
Audience:
John Scalzi's motive is to let the rich people know that poor people don't always have the luxury of choice. They have to hard to get what they need just to barely get by.
Reason: To let people know that America is increasing in poverty more everyday and it's not good news. We people need to do something about it.
Main Idea:
Many people in America are falling into poverty everyday and something needs to be done. millions of people in The U.S. are already in poverty. About one out of every 5 children are poor.
Significance:
The article is important because America used to be the best country in the world and now we are slowly adulterating it. We need to fix the poverty problem or else the poor will become less poor and the rich, richer. The rich need to give some money up to the less fortunate. This is also important to my life because I see people begging on the side of the street all the time and i don't to end up that way.
It must be so hard to live in poverty, I cant even imagine what it would be like.
