Report: Record number of Latinos eligible to vote

Record number of Latinos eligible to vote

Author:
By Kevin Liptak, CNN

Summary:
For the first time in American history more than the usual number of Latinos are being able to vote in November's election. The only problem is going to be getting them to want to take part in voting. The rate of Latinos eligible to vote has raised by 22% since 2008. While Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both tried so hard to gain trust and passion from Latino voter their attempts didn't have much affect. In the year of 2008 the Latino votes came out to be lower than the percentage of African American and Caucasian voters, and since then have still gradually decrees. This years vote are yet to be checked for this continuous trend .

Place and Time:
The story was published on October 1, 2012.

Prior Knowledge:
I didn't know anything about the article until I read it. I was shocked when I read it because I didn't know that the percentage of Latino voters were slowly decreasing. I also didn't know that Latino's votes so badly counted right now. I agree every bodies vote counts and we need people's opinions.

Audience:
The people that the author is trying to reach is the Latinos. The author is trying to send a positive message letting the Latinos know that its okay for them to vote and that their votes are wanted.

Reason:
This article was written to tell the Latinos that their vote is wanted and that their race is somehow losing enthusiasm in politics and voting. It was written to say that America cares about their vote.

The main idea:
The votes of Latinos has been gradually decreasing over the past couple of years. Many people are trying to find the reason why.

Significance:
This article is important because it's saying that with Latinos not voting then their not being represented correctly as citizens of america. Their vote also decides who gets to run our country.
