Cardboard Bicycle! by Corran Nolan

Izhar Gafni, an automated mass production line expert and cycling enthusiast has created a new prototype that should be in production soon. The prototype is the first ever ride able cardboard bike. The creation of this bike took much trial and error, as well as a lot of time. "I was always fascinated by applying unconventional technologies to materials... I worked for four years to cancel out the corrugated cardboard's structural weaknesses. [The whole thing] took a year and a half, with lots of testing and failure until I got it right."
After the cardboard is cut to the right size and shape, it is covered in a secret substance granting it water-proof and fire-proof qualities, then painted with lacquer. This design is so durable, Izhar immersed a small cut of it in a tank of water for several months and it still retained its shape and qualities. There are no metal parts, and the bike is said to be priced at a measly 20$. It is also much lighter than a conventional bike.
Izhar thinks this will be very good for people in poorer parts of the world, allowing them bikes for very little to no money.
This article is important because it shows how hard work and ingenuity can pay off and create something really neat and useful. This bike would allow for easy and fast transportation for people who could not afford a regular bike, allowing the whole world to benefit. This could be a big impact for many poor people, but also for people who had never really considered biking before because they didn't think a 1000$ bike was worth the money, which could make more people fit and take more cars off the road.
