Chile copper mind-Faith Barnes

In Chuquicamata, Chile a copper mine is running out of copper and becoming improfitable. The mine is too big and deep and much to old to continued digging and by 2019 it will be unprofitable to continue mining. So to fix that problem a mining company, Codelco, is trying to head off closure by changing it into the world's largest underground mine. They believe the mine has much more copper. All over the world the race for resources is forcing countries to spend more and drill deeper than they ever had before. There will be five tunnels and two of them will be filled with clean air which will give the workers they best environmental conditions for underground work. This will most likely determine the prosperity of Chile. Now, they say that the mine will last for another 50 years. I think that they are doing what is best for their country by continuing to dig.
