Ecuador rescues 2 kidnapped tourists

Two tourists were rescued on Saturday after they were kidnapped in northeast Ecuador. Interestingly enough, the Interior and Environment Ministries told different stories of what happened. They both stated that the tourists were part of a group that were attacked on Friday either near or inside the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, located near the border of Columbia. Some members of the group were let go, but others were not so lucky. The Interior Ministry told the media that the group included seven people but the Environment Ministry that there were only five. A 32 year old Australian woman and a 23 year old woman from England were the two who were kidnapped. The Environment Ministry reports that the woman were abducted by a group called the "Black Eagles". However the Interior Ministry says that it was most likely a Columbian group. I find it interesting that the two ministries had different reports of the case. This makes it hard to tell which one is accurate.

  1. It makes you wonder if they are purposely inaccurate or just misinformed...

  2. I wonder why they bothered to have different stories... are they hiding something? I am happy that the government rescued these tourists even though they weren't from their country. It feels like something else is going on, though.

  3. It doesn't sound like the whole story; it seems like the ministries are trying to hide what really happened. Maybe each ministry was told different stories by the members of the group? Or maybe they didn't contact each other to make sure they got their facts straight? It's probably a mixture of both; anyway, it sounds sketchy.
