Mexico
confirms death of feared Zetas cartel leader
Mariano Castillo, of CNN news posts an article on October 10, 2012, about
the death of a very feared, powerful man. Heriberto
Lazcano
was known to be the leader of the Zetas cartel in Mexico. Marines killed him
last Sunday in a shootout 130 miles from the Texas Border. Lazcano was know as “The Executioner.” He was given this
nick name because he was know for mass murders, having people killed, and
publicly displaying them to send a message to any one trying to oppose him and
the Zetas. Lazcano’s death is a major victory for Mexico, and the United States
who had offered more than 7 million dollars in reward for information on him.
Sense the election in December 2006, when Caldren started to “begin his crack
down on cartels” The death percentage in drug related deaths has gone up, but
they are expecting the down fall of the Zetas leader will help bring the number
of deaths down tremendously. Later last week Lazcano’s body was stolen from a
funeral home. Even though pictures, and fingerprints had already been taken, to
confirm his identity, they are on a rigorous search to find Lazcano’s body. The
Zetas had been one of the leading cartels for smuggling drugs into the United
States, and had generated millions of dollars doing so. Many people expect if
they find the men who stole the body they will be able to find many members of
the cartel, and put a stop to them.

I think a search for the men who stole the body will definitly help in finding members of the cartel and putting a stop to them.
