Governor Andre Cuomo introduced a tuition free plan in janurary. Lawmaker's agreed to include it on the state budget and was approved by the Senate and the Assembly. Tuition will be free to people who land in a certain income cap. Starting this fall, undergraduate students who attend a State University of New York or City University of New York school will be eligible for the Excelsior Scholarship if their families earn no more than $100,000 a year. The income cap will lift to $110,000 next year and will reach $125,000 in 2019.
I think this is fantastic! So many people, throughout their entire lives have to pay back student loans, and that pain and living in poverty just to pay back those loans will be far less with this!
