St. Mary's School

Author:By HILLARY FEDERICO

Summary: In a school that once had students pull heavy text books out of their back packs now pull out there light handy i Pads.
At St. Mary's school in Simsbury, Connecticut students have traded in text books, planners, and even writing utensils for a new advanced i Pads that was purchased with the money raised from a silent auction the school held. The children there say they love it and that it's faster, easier, and more officiant to work with. The idea formed when the school board had a meeting about the school's educational structure
and discussed on how to make the program easier for staff and the students when the idea came up. they thought it was convenient  since the children are growing up in the digital age. will this become the regular basis, already high schools in the area are using the same technology.

Place and Time:
The story takes place at St. Mary's School in Simsbury, Connecticut and published on October 4, 2012. The time and place do affect the story because of the century we live in today explains the i Pads. We have advanced so far in technology, so why not use it if it's there?

Prior Knowledge:
My Parents told me one night while eating dinner that there starting to change school supplies with i Pads. At first I thought that it was a horrible idea and that our century relies on technology to much.We have advanced so far in technology that it's starting to run our life. instead of writing we email or call,  instead of doing the math we use calculators, and instead of reading in a book for answers we just research them with the internet. It's slowly degrading us as intelligent intellectuals. Then I searched for news stories for my analysis questions I ran across this story so I decided to write about it. now that I read the story I see that it was a smart move and it really does help the students.

Audience:
The story was intended for parents so they can help fundraiser this movement but, mostly I think its for the presidents of school districts. The article influences them to make this change in their school district.

Reason:
To inform people that this is what's improving in our countries educational system and it's a good cause.

Main Idea:
This article was written to inform people that our advancement in technology is helping the way we learn things today. It's not only making it easier but more efficient. The children love it  much more than carrying around heavy books in their back packs or saving projects to a flash drive because it's all there in one spot.

Significance:
It's important to me because i'm a student and I agree that i Pads do make things a lot easier but, I don't think we should rely to much on technology because it can cause us to forget how to solve things without technology. It's important to me because I wouldn't have this view on technology today if I didn't read this article.

  1. This is cool. Although, I wouldn't use iPad. I'm tired of Apple ruling the world. Maybe a kindle fire?

  2. My old middle school got iPads too. This means that my brother and my friend have them now and all I hear about is how cool they are. I can almost drown it out by the screaming pain of my back from my own textbooks. :/
