Cuban Journalist Previously Detained, Now Freed Walker Tindall

Recently a Cuban blogger and journalist that had recently been detained has been set free. Yoani Sanchez was arrested in Bayamo for travelling in to report on a Spanish man's trial. The trial was caused when the man crashed a car killing another man. Authorities claim she was going to be distracting to the court case.  She was held for a little over a day and was prevented from viewing the trial.  She was "deported" back to her home late Friday night.  I think this sort of detainment for no particular reason is very unacceptable. Sanchez had not done anything, and simply wanted to report on the topic for her blog.  Authorities were overreacting on this subject and should be acted against.

  1. Last week I wrote about her being arrested! I'm glad to hear she's out of jail. It's unfortunate that because she speaks her mind and has different opinions from her government, she was arrested and deported back to her home. Her government is trying to limit her freedom of speech. Hopefully she will continue her blog and this incident will only make her want to speak out more.
