Many Americans struggle with weight problems. One man, Ernest Gagnon, Is one of them. He weighed 570 pounds and decided he wanted to do something about it. He was tired of being stuck in his house, he wanted to be healthy. So unlike most Americans, Ernest decided to do cyclocross. In cyclocross you race around obstacles on a bike. Two years later he has lost 240 pounds.
Ernest has many supporters in facebook, many of which greeted him and congratulated him after he finished his first race. When he first started he had to get over being self conscious. As he says,"You know, I'm riding in spandex in Boston with these guys. Never thought I could do that [and] it's liberating in a way," Gagnon says. "It really [forces] you to be honest with yourself, accept who you are; because if you can't accept who you are, you can't do anything."
I really think what he is doing is great. I think he is a good inspiration and a hard worker! More Americans should be like him.

I really love the fact that he took the effort to do it. It's really great to see people work to help themselves or others.
ReplyDeleteits really good to see that instead of doing a surgery he did exercise. your not going to see the results right away but its better than an expensive surgery.
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! It's always good to not rely on surgeries to improve the way you look and feel, when you can just do it the healthier and more natural way!
ReplyDeleteIt's really impressive that he decided to do something about his weight by himself instead of doing surgery. Maybe society will take a clue from his genius!!!!
