Iran's Booming Tourism by Graysha Assoun

Most countries want to eliminate as much uranium enrichment programs as they can, but on the downside Iran's economy is not doing so well. The entire market has been paralyzeed causing food and fuel prices to increase. Yet, oddly enough, these sanctions of eliminating these programs have unintentionally increased tourism. According to sources up to three million tourists visited in 2011 conrtibuting to almost $2 billion to the local economy. In the grand scheme of things, Iran grew four times faster than the global average in tourists. Some believe that this is because of the changed attitudes among Iranian officials. After their Revolution some things were kept in Iran, but now, such as the Persepolis, a 2,500-year-old palace complex, Iran advertise it freely. Most people think Iran is attractive because of its natural beauty and its ancient culture and history. Most people come to Iran for religious purposes. Due to strict social rules, such as covering a women, Westerners and Americans are less attracted to Iran. Most Americans do not go to Iran, but if they do they must be escorted by someone throughout their journey.
All in all, the increase in tourists is incredible and also very pleasing and beneficial to the economy.

  2. I can't imagine going to Iran for a vacation. Seriously, people. Pick somewhere that isn't in the news 24/7. Like Florida. Or Washington.
