PostSecret Murder? by Anna Pickett

Recently, a confession was posted on a blog called PostSecret. The confession stated, "I said she dumped me, but really, I dumped her (body)." PostSecret is a blog where people can anonymously send in a postcard to Thomas Warren, the founder. He will then choose a select few to scan and post onto the blog. This confession was written on top of a map with an arrow pointing to a specific location. Reddit users found the exact location of this picture: Jackson Park in Chicago. Police have been searching the park for any signs of a homicide, but nothing has come up. Though the confession might have been fake, they will still continue to check for the possibility of a murder.
I think that Thomas Warren should not have posted this online. He could have simply sent the postcard to the police and let them find the location. I think that if too many people know about this possibility, it could cause some people to become paranoid. It could also encourage others to make up a story, in hope that the police will try to solve the crime. These fake cases might cause the police to become backtracked.

  1. I think he posted in on there as opposed to the police because he felt he would have some privacy and no one know, almost like a confessional at church, and i could just be that he felt as if he had metaphorically dumped her body and that the location was where he did so

  2. i agree that the information should have been sent strait to the police and not posted publicly.

  3. I agree with you; the information really shouldn't have been posted online. By posting it online, this person gave the possible murderer more time to cover up all the evidence. If the letter had gone straight to the police, they would have found something by now if it wasn't fake.
