On West 51st street around 10:15 p.m. last Thursday, a man (or many men) opened fire at a local basketball game in Chicago. A police officer said that it was a miracle no one died. Thirteen people were shot, mostly in the legs or arms. A 3-year old boy was shot near the ear and the bullet passed through his head, then came out his check. The police are still investigating the scene and trying to figure out who the gunman was or if there was more than one person doing the shooting. "The park is in an area considered by Chicago police to be a "high gang conflict area", but it is not an impact zone flossed by officers to deter crime, McCarthy said"
I think that it is ridiculous that someone would do such a thing. The kids were just playing basketball like they always do. Apparently there was another shooting two years ago in the same spot so I'm surprised they don't have more police in that area. I am sorry for all of the families affected and hope that their loved ones recover briskly.

It's practically a miracle that no one died, but now, for example, that 3-year-old will have to live with a horrible injury for the rest of his life, just because of a ridiculous thing someone did once. I can't imagine how anyone could be able to do such a thing. Maybe they weren't thinking of the consequences it would have on others.
ReplyDeleteSome people really need to think before they do something that they'll regret the rest of their lives. It's sickening someone would do such a stupid thing.
