After rufusing to remove headscarf for religious reason, Hani Khan was fired from Abercrombie and Fitch. When at the beginning of her enployment at the store she had been assured that she would be allowed to wear headress. After being employed for four months the the district manager suspended Khan's pay. The retailer claimed that the scarf would need to be removed due to "look policy" and would negatively effect sales. Suppoting Khan, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Comission an Civil Rights lawyers argued that the "look Policy" had proposed discriminative ideas. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled in favor of Khan.
I think that this is unbelievable. It is awful that someone is being put out of a job because of their religious rituals. It's ridiculous that just back in May, Abercrombie an Fitch was accused of making more discriminative remarks about the type of people to wear their clothes... no ugly people. Now they are being caught again, with an instince that has the same mentality behind it that they should have already learned was not okay from their last mistake. Abercrombie and Fitch needs to watch what they do and say otherwise, they could very well join Miley Cyrus on her downward spiral.

How disgusting this is!!! I thought that our world had come so much farther to not discriminate against a religion!
ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculous! It's not right to fire someone based on their religion, and Abercrombie and Fitch seem to only care about the appearances of both the people under their employment and their customers. Besides, she was assured she would be allowed to wear the headdress before starting the job! I don't know why these idiots changed their minds.
ReplyDeleteAbercrombie and Fitch has also said that they don't donate to the homeless, instead they burn them because of the no ugly people rule! Are you kidding, it was a headdress, it's not like she was wearing underwear on her head!
ReplyDeleteAbercrombie and Fitch really needs to get their act together! Everything they say is discriminative and just plain rude!
ReplyDeleteI thought we got past discriminating people because I their religion! Some people really need to grow up.
ReplyDeleteThat is wrong that they fired her for such a silly thing. She should be able to wear whatever she wants
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that people are still discriminating. I hope someone does something about this because I thought we were past most of the discrimination. I hope Abercrombie and Fitch says sorry to the lady they fired and thinks before they say something before their business goes down.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is disgusting. I bet they are losing more and more customers every day.
ReplyDeleteI won't be shopping there anytime soon. How can you assure someone that their religious head scarf won't be a problem and the four months later turn it around and fire her. This is a big No-No in America and they probably will be hurting for a while because of this.
