On Friday, September 20, it was discovered by a worker at the Ronald Reagan Sports Park in Temecula, California that the life-size Ronald Reagan Statue they had put up a year ago had been set on fire. The now black statue stands in front of a damaged tile-wall.
"It's an insult to the president as well as to the community," says the founder of the Friends of Ronald Reagan Sports Park, Perry Peters.
Authorities still haven't found a suspect or know his motive for doing this.
They might have done it because of the plaque behind the statue, that explains why the statue was made. It says that Reagan appreciated that the park was built through fundraising and volunteerism and not government handouts.
The park is now accepting donations to repair the statue.
This only was discovered this past Friday. Vandals don't realize that they're not making a statement, but they're just ruining the park for everybody else. My analysis of this story doesn't have to do with my opinion about Ronald Reagan. It doesn't matter what one's political views are to see that this was a stupid and senseless act. The one who's going to get the most trouble from this is the guy who did it. This article was written for conservatives, but it can give a message to anybody.
