I think that this is one of the best discoveries made in the past decade rivaled only by the iPhone and maybe Moreos but those were really just inventions, this, is a new treasure that everyone can rejoice over. And the discovery itself isn't even the most exciting part, its what the discovery means. There could be countless other treasure hiding out in the world, and it doesn't even have to a van Gogh painting, it could be anything, this painting just serves as a reminder of that. Who knows what we will discover next? It could literally be anything from a new species of fish to a planet capable of sustaining human life, we just have to keep looking.

New van Gogh discovered
On Monday, a lost van Gogh painting was recovered. Judging by the style and other historical evidence, the curators have been able to reason that the painting (Sunset at Montmajour) was created in his most famous "sunflower period", a small time period in which he managed to create more outstanding pieces then any other artist known. His most famous works, most notably "Sunflowers" and "Starry Night", came from his sunflower period in which he was driven his depression and different take at the world to paint almost constantly although he received almost no appreciation. However, now his painting sell at near a billion dollars to museums and archives all around the world, who knows how valuable his newest piece will become.

The fact that they discovered the painting really excites me! Like you said, who knows what else could be out there? Van Gogh was such a great artist, and I'm glad that we get to see yet another one of his masterpieces.
ReplyDeleteI think this is very intersecting! I am very excited to see what his painting looks like and it is a pleasant surprise that could happen with other artists as well. Van Gogh is a brilliant artist and the fact that more of his work could be out there excites me. (plus, me and him have the same birthday!)
