When ever we think of gaming, we usually think of a console; an individual piece of circuits and plugs with games that fill us with hours of entertainment....But what about the PC's?
Last year, PC games came at a total income of 20 Billion dollars, and have been predicted to increase even more by 2015. Before PC's were considered gaming consoles, there were endless gaming consoles, some reasonable (NES, Atari 2600, and pong consoles) and some that were very obscure (Colico-Vision, Atari 5200, Sega CD drive), but it seems since Doom came out, PC's began to come to the gaming world.
The only reason I can see why people would chose PC over a console is one thing, almost everyone has a PC/Mac. Most titles can be found and be played via a PC, even title that were never meant for a PC through Emulators. However there is a drawback, PC's are expensive when the game requires more advanced hardware. While a game console already has the hardware/ software requirements thus there is nothing to add-on. However again, people are thinking game consoles are becoming redundant, for example the playstation, the initial console mechanics and controller never changed much. I find that would also affect PC's as well since you are using a keyboard to play a game....I declare hypocrites are nearby.
I think that this is a debate that no one can win. everyone will have their opinions, and game consoles are still stridding in sales, resale, and support from the fans. While all consoles and PC's have their exclusive games and mechanics, I feel like consoles will always win in the end, they have more characteristics and straight out of the box, a better way to game than a PC.
Why PC Gaming is Surging -IGN
Do you think that later on when more advanced pc are created for a cheaper and more reasonable price that the need for consoles will be lost
