Chloe Dupuy: North Korea sentences American Matthew Miller to 6 years of hard labor
North Korea has sentenced Matthew Miller to 6 years of hard labor for his "hostile acts", after he ripped his visa at his arrival in Pyongyang. During his trial, the Supreme court has found out Miller, had no legal representation, had committed the "hostile acts to the DPRK as under a guise tourist." Analysts believe Pyongyang is using these men as bargaining chips with its long-running dispute with Washington over its nuclear program but the United States is busy with the issue in the Middle East. Two other Americans are stuck in the same situation as Miller. Jeremy Fowle is arrested for leaving a bible in the seamen's club in Chongjin. Kenneth Bae, a korean missionary, has been sentenced for 15 years for "hostile acts for trying to bring down the government."
I feel bad for the 3 men who are trapped in North Korea. It's terrible that they have to suffer in the labor camps. Without labor camps in North Korea, the government will fall apart. I think that they should had send the back to the U.S than keeping them or at least ban them from entering the DPRK.

This seems like a harsh punishment for ripping up a visa, but it is North Korea. Just the name 'labor camps' sounds menacing. I agree with you, I think the men should have been sent pack to the U.S. and punished there, instead of being kept in North Korea away from home to serve out their sentences.
