http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2015/04/28/baltimore-riots-freddie-gray-maryland/26498835/

The riots in Baltimore are still going strong. The African-American people Of the city, are furious with the authorities of the man who died of a spinal injury. They think the police men let him die because of his race. There is violence, destroying of buildings, and even murder.

This is a bizarre situation to me. There is huge difference between protests and riots. They need to have a peaceful protest to get what they want. Violence is never the answer

Nepal Earthquake, Death Toll Over 4,400 | Trent Hagar

Original Article

The earthquake that struck Nepal on Saturday has completely devastated the small country. Currently, India is leading as the major aid to Nepal, but countries around the world are pitching in. Currently the terrain and power outages are making the situation increasingly more difficult.

Nepal has not suffered an earthquake of this measure in 80 years. Mt. Everest, the mountain Nepal is best known for, was created by two tectonic plates that smashed together vigorously. This to me says that the area should have been more prepared for a disaster such as this one, as another major earthquake was not hard to predict. This being said, it is my opinion that during the rebuilding of the areas effected the greatest, there should be significant fortifications constructed to better control the situation the next time something like this occurs.

Nepal Earthquake; Current Death Toll: 4,310 by Bella Dekhtyar

http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/26/asia/nepal-earthquake/

A powerful earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.8,  struck Nepal on Saturday, and has killed/injured numerous of people. With a current death toll of over 4,300 and a count of almost 8,000 injured, people are beginning to loose hope. Among the dead were 4 Americans including, Google Executive: Dan Fredinburg,  Marisa Eve Girawong, Tom Taplin (a film maker), and a Vietnamese-American hiker named Ninh Truong. Areas such as Mt. Everest in the Himalayas and the villages in Nepal were the strongest hit and are currently being helped by the Disaster Response Team.

This is among the most devastating natural disasters I've probably ever heard. Not only are thousands upon thousands injured or dead, but homes are destroyed (both old and new) leaving the citizens with no shelter, food, or water. What's also horrible is the question of how Nepal is going to rebuild its towns and provide shelter for thousands of victims. These people need a place to go where its safe from further aftershocks and falling debris. I hope that all will be better soon for the victims and their families.

Dinosaur eggs found in China By: Emma Wall

http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/21/asia/china-dinosaur-eggs-found/index.html

The article above states that 43 dinosaur eggs wee found in China.  The specific spot of the findings is known as the, "Home of Dinosaurs."  This place has been a popular spot for findings such as these.  There has been a rough total of 17,000 eggs found in this particular spot.  The first finding was recorded in 1996.  They have yet to specify what type of dinosaur has laid these eggs.

This is so cool.  I didn't know that eggs have recently been uncovered.  It's actually kind of scary too.  I mean were these eggs planning on hatching?  I understand that it is nearly impossible for this to happen, but what if it did?  That is really crazy to think about.  It even states that the eggs are up to 5 inches long, which is insane!

Swedish Hostages freed from Syria by William Perry Esping

http://www.thelocal.se/20150426/swedish-hostages-freed-in-syria

Two Swedes on a mission trip to Jordan were taken hostage after they crossed the Syrian-Jordanian border, by a branch of Al-Qeada known as the Al-Nursa Front. They were held for a little over two months. Palestine and Jordanian authorities managed to free the Swedes and send them home to Sweden.

The tension in the Middle East has always been very high. This will show missionaries that you don't go into hostel territory unless it is absolutely necessary. It goes to show that people hear it happening to others, but they don't think it will happen to them if they just go out for a little bit. Unfortunately terrorists are hanging around the border for this reason.

Possible Vatican terror attack revealed
by Adrianna Martinez

Italian authorities began an investigation to expose suspected people involved with Al Qaeda, the terrorist organization. The authorities began the investigation after the suspects had allegedly discussed a range of targets including the Vatican. Intelligence and wiretaps revealed some of the suspects had direct communication with Osama bin laden when he was alive and planned terrorist attacks in Pakistan,Afghanistan and Italy. The investigation has revealed The Vatican was among the targets considered and in march 2010 a possible suicide bomber entered Italy and then shortly after left.
This is a very frightening and serious situation. If the Italian authorities didn't conduct this investigation this information wouldn't have been discovered and the terrorist could have striked and caused serious damage and deaths. Also this shows how many people want to cause destruction and chaos towards other countries, people and governments. Authorities should have more investigations  like this to prevent terrorists from striking and to put them in prison.

Swedish Cops in NYC by William Perry Esping

http://www.thelocal.se/20150423/swedish-cops-in-us-become-global-sensation

On April 22 2015, a violent fight between two homeless people broke out on a subway train in New York City. 4 Swedish cops who were on vacation happened to be on the bus and separated the two. They heard the operator call for help on the intercom and the Swedes rushed instantly responded.

This shows how good cops no matter where they are, will always respond when needed. It goes to show how chaotic life would be without their service. I have a message for those Swedes.

Tack för att hjälpa dem!

http://kdvr.com/2015/04/20/columbine-high-closed-monday-to-mark-16-year-anniversary-of-deadly-shooting/

Columbine closed it's school to mark the 16th anniversary of the deadly shooting of 1999. Two boys were bullied and troubled so much that it led them to kill over 15 people at the high school. The pair would have killed over 400 had the bombs they set detanated. But thankfully, they failed on that part. Unfortunately, many lives were still lost.

This was an extremely tragic event. It goes to show you should treat everyone nicely. You can only push someone so far before they go as far to shoot up the school. This was a wake up call, we need to end bullying.

Rare Black Flamingo Snapshot by Vern Blossfeld

Summary: At the Akrotiri Environment Center on the southern coast of Cyprus April 8, 2015, a black flamingo was seen in a salt lake. The flamingo is thought to produce more melanin than other flamingos, a genetic condition rarely seen in the species. "Flamingos can migrate long distances, so it’s “definitely possible,” that the Cyprus sighting is actually the same bird, says Felicity Arengo, a conservationist at the American Museum of Natural History." -Taken from article
Analysis: This is so cool! Genetic conditions in animal species that change their color are so interesting, and personally I think the black flamingo is cooler than the other flamingos. He's probably the most popular! I hope this genetic condition spreads

6 Men from Minnesota Arrested for Attempt to Join Islamic State by Bella Dekhtyar

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-syria-terrorism-investigation-20150419-story.html

Six men in Minneapolis, Minnesota, all of Somali descent, have been detained by the FBI and charged for forming alliances with the Islamic State. These men have been attempting to go to Syria through San Diego for a long period of time, but were eventually caught before their flight out. Authorities state that few Minnesotan residents have travelled to Syria to fight with militants in the past year. Besides ISIS, more than 20 other Somali men have been joining the terrorist group, al-Shabab, since 2007.

This article helped me realize that the U.S. isn't as safe from ISIS as I assumed to believe because there are many citizens who are actively joining terrorist groups for years. I don't want to assume that every man of Somali descent is associated with ISIS or any other terrorist group, but because of the recent numbers of Somali descents joining ISIS, I'd want the U.S. government to keep a close eye on them, or anyone else, in case of any other attempts to join the Islamic state.

Shipwreck off the coast of Italy By: Emma Wall

http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/20/africa/italy-migrant-boat-capsizes/index.html

The article above discusses the tragic shipwreck that happened off the coast of Italy.  There are hundreds of migrants that have died from this.  The article states that the ship was sailing from Libya to Europe in which the tragedy occurred. The article also states that these migrants were forced onto the ships by gangs of prisoners or criminals.  Some were even held at gunpoint.

This almost reminds me of the titanic just for the fact that people are dying from a shipwreck.  The difference is that the people on this ship did not have a choice to sail.  The article even states that they are headed to their death by getting onto this ship.  It is truly sad that they do not have a choice.  I feel almost guilty because The United States provides us with the freedoms that these other countries do not have.  I really do hope that they rescue these civilians.

Freedom of Speech Taken Away From a Middle School Girl?

At the request of her Ohio middle school principal, Sophie Thomas’ ‘Feminist’ shirt was digitally edited to appear all black, reportedly to avoid controversy. Consequently, one middle school class photo is getting a lot of attention — because of what it doesn't include.

Eighth grader Sophie Thomas wore a black t-shirt that had the word “Feminist” in silver for a recent picture day at Clermont Northeastern Middle School in Batavia, Ohio. Yet when the girl, sitting in the front row of assembled students, saw a copy of the photo last week, she was devastated to find that the word “feminist” had been photo-shopped out of the picture.

This is very wrong because the United States has given everybody freedom of speech, which cannot be taken away. I'm just surprised that this sort of thing happened today, when so many people are so tolerant of other people's beliefs, instead of back in the sixties when there was the civil rights movement and all that jazz.

Vet posts pic of cat shot with arrow, triggers social media firestorm By-jack Rogers

http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/18/us/texas-veterinarian-facebook-cat-shot/index.html

Callers rang the phones hot at Washington County's Animal Clinic, where Lindsey worked, to vent their outrage. Web traffic crashed its website. Then an animal rescuer said that Lindsey's prey was probably not a feral cat but the pet of an elderly couple, who called him "Tiger." He had gone missing on Wednesday, the same day that Lindsey posted the photo of the slain cat.As the firestorm grew, Lindsey wrote in the comments underneath her post: "no I did not lose my job. Lol. Psshh. Like someone would get rid of me. I'm awesome!" She was soon fired after that. Lol

I think that's messed up that you would post a picture of a dead animal in general but to post a picture of a cat that got shot with an arrow just makes it weird and totally messed up!

Lilly Pulitzer for Target causes shopping frenzy By-jack Rogers

http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/19/living/feat-lilly-pulitzer-target/index.html

Dresses and beach coverups flew off the racks at Target stores Sunday morning as eager shoppers snatched up apparel, accessories and home decor from the limited edition collection.Much of the collection was sold out online and in stores within hours of going on sale Sunday morning, drawing ire from Lilly lovers who missed out on the chance to own discounted versions of the brand's designs.Target began responding to disgruntled customers via Twitter early Sunday morning, when would-be Target.com shoppers began complaining about website outages and difficulties placing orders. By Sunday afternoon, most items on Target.com were out of stock, forcing the retailer to break the news that no more inventory would be restocked.

I think that people should just chill out and just get what they get and don't throw a fit about it because when it's outa stock it's sure to come back in stock sometime they don't have to have it right then.

Is America ready for marijuana moguls? By-jack Rogers

http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/15/living/high-profits-breckenridge-cannabis-club-intro/index.html

The couple started their business as a medical cannabis dispensary in 2010, but when Colorado became the first state in the nation to allow the sale of recreational marijuana, they saw a once-in-a-lifetime business opportunity. previously, they were only permitted to sell medical marijuana to the approximate 4,500 permanent residents of Breckenridge; when the new legislation took effect on January 1, 2014, they could then sell to any of the 30,000-plus tourists (21 years or older) who visited the town during peak season.

I think that America is ready because there are probably a lot of people already buying pot that are buying it illegal and so this would make them less never out to get it legally.

A Killed Model over Isis: Reagan Leslie

In Australia, a former model and popular DJ named Sharky Jama, who was 25 years old, was killed over ISIS. He was killed by fighting side by side with the ISIS militants in Syria. Apparently,a year ago, he told his parents that he was going camping, but instead he went to Iraq to fight as a machine gunner. I think this is a terrible situation. Yes, he was fighting for his country and he will be respected, he will never be forgotten and should be honored. http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/16/asia/australia-isis-sharky-jama-killed/index.html

The Pope's role in the Cuba breakthrough: Samantha Arthur

The Vatican is telling people across the world that Pope Francis may be adding another leg to his vacation to the US this coming September. He may be visiting Cuba just a few months after helping negotiate a diplomatic problem between two thriving nations. This slight vacation would add definite dimension of internal interest.

By Pope Francis visiting different countries around the globe, a whole new kind of unity can be spread throughout nations. The Pope has always been a thriving figure in World History and should definitely continue traveling.

Granny's Children: Reagan Leslie

You have heard about women 50 and older having children, but have you ever heard of a grandmother who is pregnant? Sixty-Five year old grandmother Annegret Raunigk is pregnant with quadruplets. Raunigk is already the mother of thirteen children and has 7 grandchildren. Her decision from getting pregnant came from her nine year old daughter saying that she wanted a younger sibling. She was artificially inseminated with sperm and eggs and 4 embryos formed. I am really supporting this lady but to be honest, she is too old to be having children at 65. She just needs to retire and rest at home. http://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2015/04/14/grandma-pregnant-quadruplets-65-orig.rtl

RUSSIA FLIPPING HATES MEMES by Jackson Scoggins

VLADIMIR PUTIN THE PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA REALLY HATES MEMES. MEMES THAT ARE OF HIM AND OTHER PUBLIC FIGURES THAT REFLECT POORLY ON THEM AND ARE NOT DIRECTLY RELATED TO THEIR PERSONALITY. IF ITS THE TROLL FACE MEME YOU ARE FINE. BUT IT IS A MEME LIKE THIS
OR THIS
OR MAYBE THIS
EVEN THIS
OR THIS
ESPECIALLY THIS

YOU WILL BE ASKED TO REMOVE THAT MEME BECAUSE MEMES ARE EVIL AND PUTIN IS GREAT. IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THE MEME YOU WILL HAVE A LAWSUIT AGAINST YOUR SORRY LITTLE MEME OF A BUTT.

I think this really shows that Putin is a little on the coo coo side. It also shows cultural diffusion since that is what memes are in the first place. Also it is not cool being able to make fun of our leaders is free speech which Russia should have.

"Wise Leader Trevor" Powers on Into Communist Dictatorship After Being Voted Of American Idol by Jackson Scoggins

Local man Trevor Haueisen (Known on the streets as @TrevorDMusic) has been voted off of the (at this point irrelevant) show American Idol.  But he isn't stopping. He is continuing on his dream to be Supreme Dictator of all of America. Trevor is having concerts many times a month and "YouNows" to all of his "Dougies" every now and then. What was thought to have just been the hot guy in my Freshman diction class has now become somewhat of an Idol to girls and guys around the country. He has recently been promoting his BLNT (Basically Lenin. Not Trevor.) Tour on his Twitter. It includes he and a couple other future dictators of the free world touring what used to be the Confederate States Of America. He has a fundraiser going on here

Now this sounds like purse Communist Totalitarianism to me. This local boy wants everyone to be equally poor after supporting his tour. Sounds just like Stalin or Zedong. But to be perfectly honest... this is a guy I would let have complete control over our country. And maybe he can make communism finally work out as well as it sounds theoretically. So since he didn't get enough votes I ask everyone to donate to the above link.

Holocaust Museum Showing Survivors Toys by Jackson Scoggins

The Yad Vasheem Holocaust Museum currently has an exhibit showing toys that children of the Holocaust carried around with them around that time. The exhibit includes toys like Ina Rennert's best friend Miszou a teddy bear she almost left behind when escaping from Poland with her family. Other toys include Claudine Schwartz's doll which wore a dress her mother made. That doll helped them survive the times. Little did Claudine know that her mother had hidden precious stones in the doll that she sold whenever they needed money.

It's really interesting about how the doll had the stones. That is really cool.I think it is super cool that there are still survivors left to share their story. Pretty soon there will be no one left to get these stories from. I'm glad I've gotten to meet two different survivors while I can.

Trouble at El Centro By:Ayanna Evans

On March 25, 2015, a video of two cops harassing 4 African American college students was released. The 4 boys attended El Centro Community College in Downtown, Dallas. Witnesses say that  the young men were minding their own business waiting for the bus at Dallas Can, when suddenly two police officers approached them aggressively. The female cop mad all 4 boys line up against the side of a building yelling and threatening them and she checked their pockets and body searched them. In the video the young men did no resist nor speak out of term, but they were put in hand-cuffs anyway and later released. Both Officers where white as well as the person that recorded the video. The man in the video even stated" we were over here just minding our business and they started being harassed".

I think this just goes back to people saying racism is still around. It is say that people of color are still being treated this way. Also i feel like the police are supposed to keep people out of harms way, not pick on innocent people just because of race or simply because they "Look like trouble". How can we trust the police if they are doing pointless acts like this?

1st Lady attends "Black Girls Rock" awards By:Ayanna Evans

On April 5,2015 the annual celebration "Black Girls Rock" was once again celebrated , but with a twist to it. First lady Michele Obama appeared at the celebration and gave an uplifting speech to empower all women of color. Her speech was about the importance of education and what it truly means to not only be a women , but what it means to be a women of color. She also included in her speech that no matter who or what you are you should always believe in yourself and follow your dream. After the 1st lady gave her amazing speech she took a seat next to some of America's most influential women of this world and enjoyed the show.

I think that what Michele Obama did was very much needed for us girls/women. I believe that someone as influential as our first lady to get involved with the world around her and not just stand by. I am so proud of Michele Obama because she is strong, intelligent, and she gives us a reason to look up to her.

Puppy In A Pipe By:Ayanna Evans

On March 16, 2015,a video of a small white puppy trapped in an exhaust pipe was posted online. It was said that the 2 month old puppy became curious and crawled into to pipe himself. This incident was located in Thailand. Emergency workers in Thailand gently cut the pipe open to free his small body and later, used soap and water around the rim of the pipe to ease the puppy's head out. Reporters say that the puppy was fine otherwise being a little shaken up.

When i first heard about this it made me sad. After i watched the video i was releived that the puppy was in fact rescued and ok. I think that peiple need to watch their animals so incident like this wont happen

Newlyweds create heart-shaped flight path over Malta, M'lynn Musgrove

Protests on an asylum has caused people to question the conditions of it. Sources say almost 100 people have been protesting the transfer of 20 people. The group was originally housed in Nauru but were brought to Darwin for medical treatment. It has become a very controversial topic.
It seems to me that there is a huge lack of information on the topic and that not a lot of information has been released about it.

Record dive rescues $50m wartime silver from ocean floor M'Lynn Musgrove

A British led dive turned into the "deepest salvage operation in history". On their dive, they found a boat that had been torpedoed in 1942. Its mission was to deliver over 100 tons of silver coins to London to help with the war effort. 6 people had died on their mission.  The ship and its cargo were presumed lost until 2011. The treasure chest inside carried up to 34 million dollars and a large percentage of it was recovered. They also recovered parts of the boat.
I am curious as to what will happen to the recovered money. Who will it go to and what will its use be? Also, who will decide what to do with the once lost money?

France stands firm over nomination of gay Vatican envoy M'Lynn Musgrove

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-32316603

France has nominated an openly gay man, Laurent Stefanini, as their ambassador. Usually, the vatican will respond within a 6 week time period to approve the chosen ambassador, but he has yet to say anything. Sources say that their has been a lot of arguments over this matter with the vatican.  Some people say that because he has taken so long to respond, it is a rejection. Stefanini is known as one of their best diplomats. Also, in France, same sex marriage was legalized despite the conflicts with the catholic church.
I think that the vatican should put some of his beliefs aside and do what is best for the people. His sexuality should not be a problem especially if he is an amazing diplomat in the first place.

For example on the Greek island of Ikaria, one couple has been married for 60 years. On this island people are not caught up with modern issues that city people have. Life expectancy for Americans is about 72 years old but according to different scientists, we should live until about 90 years old.

Bill Weir from CNN talks about his travels and an impromptu trip to the Dead Sea taken a few years ago. He is now in fear of the Dead Sea's slow downfall. Weir talks about the history behind the infamous body of water. He came to find out that the cause of it all is the River Jordan is also slowing becoming nothing. The river is now a militarized zone. He describes walking down it as a tragedy because no one remembers what it used to be.
I think its sad that such historical places are wasting away and no people are doing anything to help. Although not everyone agrees with the teachings and occurrences of the place, I think it is important to remember.

Hillary Gets Chipotle - Trent Hagar

Hillary Clinton Goes Unnoticed In Ohio Chipotle

Hillary Clinton recently visited a Chipotle restaurant on her trek across North America. Based on news reports, she ordered a burrito bowl and an iced tea. Absolutely fascinating. While no one inside the restaurant confronted her, this outing was reported by nearly every news station in the country.  Fox News added their input, calling the presidential candidate out for "lacking transparency," and being  "un-relatable".

Tsarnaev Gulty for Boston Marathon Bombing By Skiler Houston

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is guilty for all 30 charges for the Boston Marathon Bombing. The verdict was read in front of the survivors and loved ones of those who died during this event. He now has to move to stage 2 to determine if he will have life in prison or death. The same jury will determine is fate.. This terrorist act is the worst act since Sept 11, 2001.

How do someone plan to kill not only adults but children? Anyone at that? What was his motive to plan something as dangerous as this? I don't want to believe there are people that evil in the word, but I have to realize that there is.

Somalian Militants Continue to Target Non-Muslims By Skiler Houston

Shabab militants attacked the Garissa University in Northeast Kenya. The militants separated Muslims and non-Muslims. They spared the Muslims while they kept the non-Muslims hostage. More than 140 people were killed in this situation. The attacks were a planned "operation against the infidels."

I believe that this whole situation is very messed up. How can people go about killing innocent people based on how they were born into the world. It's ridiculous how people mind set is.

Swim Team Banned for 5 years
by Adrianna Martinez

Western Kentucky University announced its swimming and diving program has been suspended for five years. A investigation discovered violations related to hazing allegations brought up by a former team member.Former swim team member Collin Craig filed a complaint with the police department  in January, according to the WKU Herald. The WKU Herald also reported a university led investigation with the help of the Bowling Green police department discovered violations of policies regarding hazing, sexual harassment, and sexual assault.

I believe the students deserved their punishment. The students knew what they were committing and need to be held accountable for their actions. Also since they were violating school policies, I believe they should be dismissed or expelled from the school , but unfortunately they are still allowed to attend the university.

Family killed by falling concrete
by Adrianna Martinez

A family while driving underneath a highway overpass in Boney Lake, a Seattle suburb, was killed by falling concrete. Concrete from a construction project fell onto the car killing Josh and Vanessa Ellis and their eight moth old son. An officer from the Boney Lake police department stated the damage was so severe  they could only see one body and didn't know how many others were in the vehicle.

This event is very frightening and sad, I feel sorry for the victims family and friends. This event should make drivers to be more cautious while on the road, because anything can happen. Also Roads, highway passes and bridges should be inspected more often to insure another frightening incident like this won't occur again.

Black bears arrive for the season by Vern Blossfeld

Summary: The black bears in Utah have come out of hibernation as the climate has started to warm up. Each winter, Utah scientists use signals from collared bears to find the dens where they and their cubs are hibernating. In early 2015 Utah's weather was so warm that the mother bears had already left their dens. Scientists are nervous because the bears are coming out too soon. There's nothing to eat and not much water. This early rising might cause the population of bears in southeastern Utah to decrease by a bit.
Analysis: It's sad that the black bears have left their caves so early! Now a lot of the cubs will have trouble finding food and may starve to death. Hopefully the majority if not all the bears are able to find enough food to last until springtime.

Australian Government Pushes Parents to Give Children Vaccines by Bella Dekhtyar

http://time.com/3819178/australia-vaccination/

According to Australia's Prime Minister, Tony Abbot, "The choice made by families not to immunize their children is not supported by public policy or medical research." This topic has been aroused due to the recent measles outbreak in California. Many of the cases were to due to parents who did not vaccinate their children for the disease, and, as a response, Australia is taking extra precaution that the same thing doesn't occur there. Apparently, the reason many parents refuse to vaccinate their children is because of a study that was conducted while back saying vaccines can put children at a higher risk for autism. However, many recent studies believe this statement is wrong and goes against public policy. To make sure this law is strictly enforced, Australia will cut benefits for families who do not follow the policy; altogether, it could cost parents $11,000 a year in welfare benefits.

Although this is harsh, I believe its the last resort for a government to make sure that all children are vaccinated so that no potentially life-threatening illnesses are spread. And although people believe the study about autism chances increasing when vaccinated is true, it has also been proven wrong, and is anti-beneficial for society as a whole.

The article above discusses the many problems of children having to flee their homes due to uproar in their country.  One major issue that is the main conflict in Nigeria is Boko Haram.  The article states that over 800,000 kids have left home and are either stranded in Nigeria or have crossed the border of another country.  The topic has been brought up because it was the 1 year anniversary of the abduction of 200 Nigerian girls.

This is absolutely horrendous.  I couldn't possibly imagine being separated from my family.  Similarly, I could not imagine myself out in the world on my own at such a young age.  It is so sad to hear about the conflict going on in other countries.  It is also sad that there are parents grieving over losing their children.

It has less long term effects and just makes you have a "high feeling" and only effexts you if you do it constantly for years. Alcohol can give you brain damage and make you gain weight and distort your face/brain.

I think marijuana should be legalized for the sake of the economy. Out economy has been substantial and marihuana could possibly make it better.

Death Sentence by Deandra Whitmill

A Muslim brotherhood leader and 13 members were hanged because they were plotting terrorist attacks against state facilities. They were charged with many things include funding the Rabaa al Adawiya sit in, and spreading false info to destablelixe Egypt. Mohamed Soltan was a member that was sentenced like in prison, and has been on a hungry strike for more than 14 months.

They should find out who the  Muslim leaders of all the groups and put them in prison and make a law forbidding these things that they are doing. And make sure they wont have anymore secret plans going on to the country wont get in a bad situation.

Case Cockrell current event- 4/7

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/04/13/jodi-arias-sentencing/25691575/

Jodi Arias was finally convicted of killing her lover back in 2008. Two juries were unable to convict her. They kept wanting to give her the death penalty and they would not take hit off the table. they finally have her a life sentence as of today.

I think justice has been serves there is no justification for killing a human being. This person is getting what she deserves.

A Yemen Crisis by Deandra Whitmill

Over 500 Houthi rebels have been killed since  the Saudi military options have started. They were doing raids to keep the rebels from moving to south Yemen. 385 civilians have been killed and 342 others have also been killed. Houthi rebels have been causing commotion for awhile and a president had been forced from power during this time.

I believe if the got rid off all the houthi rebels in Yemen and border it so it will be hard for them to get in then people will stop dying and everything will go back to normal. I hope the ones who have dies get their justice because they were just civilians trying to live

Putin's Soviet Russia by William Perry Esping

CNN multiple articles and videos

Over the past ten years the soviets have spent about $730 billion U.S. dollars on their military. They have now 800,000 foot soldiers, 600 warplanes, 100 warships, and "the largest nuclear arsenal in the world" as quoted by CNN. Many people think that Russia's interest in the Ukraine was what sparked foreign interest. That however it is false, the Ukrainian incident is just an issue in which countries decided to take action. 6 years ago Russia's military began to occupy Georgia, a former Soviet state. Now with the annexation of Krimea and Putin's support of the Ukrainian militants, it is clear that he is trying to bring Russia back its former glory of the Soviet Union.

Bird Refugees by Victoria Biro*

The American Rhea birds have escaped their "jails" in Argentina and Brazil, fleeing to Germany.  Many farmers are being affected by these huge, feathered birds.  They eat their crops and run through the fields, reaching speeds of 60 mph.  However, Germans do not want to send these magnificent creatures back to South America where they will die of cold winters and abuse.  Their numbers are declining and leading to extinction.
I feel bad for the animals because it is not their fault that they are not treated properly and need food and shelter.  They should definitely not be sent back, but they should be taken as property of Germany so they can be provided with a nurturing environment where they can live and be free.

Exchange Students Killed in Airplane Crash by Victoria Biro*

Sixteen German students were sent on an exchange program to spain and had the time of their lives, just like they do every year.  They, and two teachers, plummeted from the sky hours before they were supposed to land back in Germany.  Their families patiently waited for them to arrive, not knowing they were crashed in France.  Soon, French officials announced every passenger dead.
All the students from the school showed their love for them and their families by placing candles all around the school.
It is very sad that after having an amazing experience that could have changed their whole lives, they died.  This really puts us in the right state of mind, and that you never know whats going to happen. These students were just excited to see their families, not knowing they would never see the again.  Life can be taken away from us at any time, which is very scary.  It is good to know that they had fun in their last moments of living.

Tomb found, up to 1,700 bodies By: Emma Wall

http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/06/middleeast/iraq-mass-graves/index.html

The article above discusses the issue that is presented in Iraq.  It states that they found mass graves in Tikirit.  It is led to believe that there could be up to 1,700 bodies in these graves.  That information has been concluded from ISIS sources who claimed that they executed 1,700 people in the June.  When these bodies were found there was a lot of grief and ceremonies.

I am really astonished by this.  If this happened in June, why would nobody look for them?  June was almost a year ago.  I am really surprised that this was not discovered earlier.  I am also very upset with the issue at hand.  ISIS destroys lives. Multiple lives have been lost.  The numbers of articles I have read based on their killings is outrageous.  When is this going to come to an end?  Is it ever going to come to an end?

Birth Control Controversy.- Makenzye Prince

Recently studies have shown that 3rd generation birth control  is more risky than we thought. Recently two women have been gravely affected by a more recent form of birth control called "Nuvaring." Studies are showing that "Nuvaring" can cause blood clots. Enough to the point of severe body damage or death. Ericka is a clear sign of that. She is currently in a coma from these blood clots and has been for a while. Another example is a close friend of hers, who is very active atheltically, was put on a brething machine from blood clots caused by Nuvaring.

This deeply disturbs me. Birth control plays a major part is alot of girls age starting from an early age of 15. I personally never agreed with nuvaring and have always been a fan of older birth control methods and am not suprised this is the outcome of modernized birth control. I am in no shock that this is the outcome of this method either. Most new medical options for cures have many side affects that are greater than the positive outcome of the medicine. I hope Ericka will wake up soon

I saw this on tv so if the link comes up soon i will put it eventually.

Man Stranded at Sea for Over Two Months by Bella Dekhtyar

http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/02/us/rescued-after-66-days-at-sea/

On Thursday, after being reported missing at sea on January 29, Louis Jordan was rescued by the Houston Express while drifting in the Atlantic Ocean for over two months. In January, Louis was off the coast of South Carolina while on his 35-foot fishing boat. The boat had suddenly flipped over, causing not only a shoulder injury, but also left him with a broken mast he was unable to fix, and no GPS or any other electronics. As he drifted off, the fisherman came to realize that it was now a matter of survival. He drank rain water collected in a bucket, and fished with nets. After a while, his shoulder healed, allowing him to forge a makeshift mast for his boat. The winds did not do much for speed and was slow. After finally being found 5 days ago, he was taken to a hospital where he was treated for his minor injuries. He has now reunited with his family and is doing fine.

It's so inspirational for someone to survive such intense conditions and come back. I think, despite some allegations for his story being untrue, that he fought well and hard for his life, and deserves to be home in the care of his family.

Death Penalty May Be The Result Of Murder Case - Trent Hagar

Original CNN Article

This man, the suspect in the killing of three muslim citizens earlier this year, allegedly went on a blind rampage when he saw that his neighbors had taken his parking space. The other neighbors claimed that this was not unlike him, and that he had been seen behaving aggressively towards people in the past. Others say that this was a matter of racism.

Based on this man's past, it is not in my opinion that this was a case of racism. Posts on his social media sites show him both defending and going against Muslims, but given the fact that he did at one point defend the beliefs, it seems unlikely that this would have been strictly based on the fact that they were Muslim. This does not exclude the possibility of this being based solely on religion in general, however, given his violent nature and atheist background. It does surprise me that this man would become belligerent over a parking space though. Maybe he's just really lazy.

Kim and Putin by William Perry Esping II

http://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2015/03/19/pkg-hancocks-russia-n-korea.cnn

The leader of the militarized police state of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, hasn't personally met another nations leader until recently. the report says that relations between China and North Korea are very bad and Kim Jong Un is itching to make a friend. Kim Jong Un meets Vladimir Putin and restores relations with the Russians.

I think this is cause for concern. Russia has the UN down its throat about the Krimea incident and Kim Jung Un is sooner or later going to get arrested by the UN and tried in the ICC (International Criminal Court). Fear is arising that this could be the breakout of World War III and I wouldn't blame them. If WWIII breaks out it will definitely be a nuclear one. In the past wars have always been fought overseas, much to our advantage, but in the third world war I doubt that will happen. In the nuclear age they will send nuclear missiles and or bombs to our doorstep. We will most likely stop them from detonating in a city, but stopping the radiation from hitting a city is a less likely. Some speculation has been done on what nations will join which side. Will neutral states stay neutral. Will the human race destroy itself and the others that live on our planet. Time will only tell.

Mice sing tiny love songs by Vern Blossfeld

Summary:
Male mice sing love songs to woo mates, according to a new Duke study. For more than 50 years it has been known that mice sing; or rather, that they emit what's called "ultrasonic vocalizations", sounds so high pitched that humans can't hear them.  When a mouse pup calls for its mother, these vocalizations are known to be used. But scientists are still studying the different social situations in which a mouse will sing. They've recently discovered that male mice will sing a more complex song when they smell a female mouse's pee, and then a simpler one when he finds her. It's kind of gross, scientists say.
Analysis: It's interesting that scientists have been discovering all these ways animals communicate that we don't know about (because we can't hear/understand them). It would be even cooler if scientists found a way to communicate with different animals, although I think we might regret it after we did. Mice seem a lot more innocent when they're not cussing at us or something. Do mice have cuss words???
