Boys trapped under 5 feet of snow for several hours by jack Rogers

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/28/us/boys-rescued-in-snow-fort/index.html

Two boys who's names haven't been givin out decide to build a snow igloo on the side of a road un willingly knowing that they were going to have to stay under there for a while because while they were inside the igloo a snow plow came by and shuffled loads of snow on top of them and the boys were screaming at it to stop but the guy in it unfortunately couldn't hear them so the boys were trapped under five feet of snow for hours and hours until a cop noticed a shuffle next to the pile and started digging and found them because there parents had sent out search missions for them and called the police and they were found at 2 am on thanksgiving day and were rushed to the hospital and are now ok.

This could have been a deadly situation if no one would've found them because if they were there for maybe 2 more hours they have been alive because they were buried under 5 feet of snow and had no air and they were getting cold quick.I would be scared out of my mind if I couldn't move for 7 hours straight stuck under layers of snow and knowing that no one can hear us but those boys are lucky they are alive today.

Montana Man Heads to Trial for Shooting Death of German Exchange Student in Garage by Savannah Boyack

http://www.startribune.com/nation/284258201.html

On April 27, Markus Kaarma of Missoula shot and killed Diren Dede, 17, of Hamburg, who was in Kaarma's garage at the time of the incident. Kaarma is pleading not guilty of deliberate homicide and his defense attorneys are arguing that he was protecting his home and family when he fired the shots into his garage. Prosecutors say that Kaarma was already frustrated about recent burglaries at his house and had set up extra security. A friend stated that he was with Dede the night of the shooting and that he watched as Dede entered the garage, heard an unfamiliar voice say, "I see you there." and ran when he heard the first shot.

My opinion on this varies. There are many different possibilities on how this shooting went down. If Kaarma was sincerely scared of being robbed again he shouldn't have fired any shots and should have called the cops instead. But, no matter what happened, Dede should not have gone into that garage. Whether he was lured by a purse, as it was once claimed in the article, or if he went in out of curiosity. He should have stayed on the sidewalk and walked on. But that doesn't mean he deserved to be killed or that his death was his fault. No matter what happened, everyone made mistakes and Kaarma should receive some form of punishment for being responsible of the death of Dede.

"U.N. agency: Number of Ebola cases now tops 16,000" by Tashina Amiro

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/29/health/ebola-outbreak/index.html?c=world

So it turns out that Ebola isn't under control, but it is instead not mentioned so the people falsely believe that everything is under control. In total, there has been over 16,000 cases with 7,000 deaths. Hundreds of people contract the disease each week; there continues to be cases in the U.S. Even with all this happening, there is still not a vaccine.

Why are the people not made aware of all these people that are still contracting the disease in the U.S.? I haven't heard about a case in a while, so I assumed everything was under control; media has even said that possible cures and such had been found. It goes to show you that you can't trust the media, because everything stems from the government. We will be told what they want us to hear and that's usually not the truth. Basically, none of this adds up. I am so confused on the situation and it angers me. Get with the program people, we have already lost thousands of people.

Train stations get transformed By: Emma Wall

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/23/travel/worlds-best-metro-stations/index.html?hpt=wo_t5

In this article it talks about all of the different train stations around the world that have been remodeled to look glamorous.  It talks about how train stations are stereotyped as gloomy and that people are trying to get rid of that by adding all sorts of colorful lights and decorations.  The article includes a photo gallery of the new train stations.

I believe that this is a great idea.  Nobody wants to go to a boring station to ride a train.  I wish that they would do this to our local dart stations.  It just enlightens the vibe and seems to make the ride a little less boring. I really enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading up on certain stations and how they have changed dramatically.

1 Killed and Dozens of Others Injured in California Bus Crash by Bella Dekhtyar

http://news.yahoo.com/1-killed-dozens-injured-california-bus-crash-003058134.html

On Sunday morning, a tour bus overturned on the Northern California freeway, killing 1 and injuring 30 (6 of them were severely injured). It drifted off interstate 5 at about 7:30 a.m. The bus was traveling from Los Angles to Pasco, Washington. Based on witness accounts, the bus had rolled over and rested up-side down on the frontage road. And what struck authorities as strange was a reported crash earlier that trip when the bus had struck a Denny's restaurant in Red Bluff; none were injured in this crash. The driver of the bus was Jose Victor Garcilazo, 67. Authorities believe that fatigue may have been responsible for the crash [they did not say whether drugs or alcohol were affiliated in the crash]. The two dozen that were injured in the crash were taken to the hospital, treated, and released, with the others still in critical condition.

What boggles me is why authorities are not able to say why the bus was able to carry on its trip after the first incident at the Denny's. Not only that but they can't make out how much damage was done in the initial crash or any other additional information.

"New Iran Nuclear talks deadlines: March 1, July 1, 2015" by Tashina Amiro

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/24/world/meast/iran-nuclear-talks/index.html?c=world

March 1, 2015 has become the new deadline for deciding whether or not Iran is allowed to have nuclear power. Iran claims they should be given this right because their only interest is to develop peaceful nuclear power. Western powers have accused Iran on trying to develop nuclear weapons also. Overall, a big decision is at stake.

Personally, I don't feel people should have been power hungry to the point of wanting the ability to destroy so many in an instant. Unfortunately, nuclear weapons do exist, so why should a right be given for one country to have and another to not. No country should be above another; it goes against the balance of powers. Basically, this shouldn't even be a problem at hand.

Underwater creatures By: Emma Wall

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/19/world/striking-portraits-marine-invertebrates/index.html?hpt=wo_mid

This article informs the reader that there are so many different species on our ocean floors that we don't know of.  It mentions that there is a certain photographer who has captured beautiful pictures of certain species that aren't recognizable.  The gallery of photos are linked to the article.

I found this so interesting.  I looked through the gallery of photos and I was actually kind of scared because of what they look like!  Also, I was amazed by the quality of the pictures!  They were absolutely stunning.  It really made me think about how many creatures we have yet to discover.  It is actually very frightening when you think about it!

Cancer patient shot by Ayanna Evans

A 15 year old boy was shot and killed outside of his home on Saturday November 15,2014. Ryan Lara was battling cancer called Lymphoma.  Ryan was shot around 11:30 p.m. Wittiness said that Ryan was moving his parents vehicle from the street into the driveway when they heard shots being fired.
Family members of Ryan say that they saw a Grey four door sedan fleeing from the scene and a family member fired shots at the vehicle but it was unclear if anyone in the car was hit.Rayan was taken to Methodists hospital where he later died from critical injuries.

This story is really sad but doesn't add up. I'm trying to figure out why and who killed him. There are so many questions that need to answered. Also I believe gun control need to become stricter because I'm I pretty sure that the person who show me him was young as well. This young boy was my exact age which scares me because it just goes to show that death comes at any age.

Suicide Bomber Kills Dozens at Volleyball Match in Afghanistan by Savannah Boyack

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/24/world/asia/afghanistan-suicide-bomber-volleyball-match.html?_r=0

A suicide bomber detonated explosives in a crowd that was watching a volleyball match near Yosuf Khelf in eastern Afghanistan. 40 were killed and 60 were wounded as a result. Even though most of the victims were civilians, eight members of the Afghan Local Police, a village-based paramilitary outfit that supports the Afghan government, were among the dozens that were killed. Volleyball is a popular form of entertainment in rural Afghanistan. Matches usually attract sizable crowds of young men.

I suspect that ISIS is behind this, even though they have not claimed the attack yet. ISIS has already been known for using suicide bombers. I think it is awful that so many people died when the attacker may had just been targeting the members of the Afghan Local Police. This is evidence that ISIS, or whoever the attackers were, are a huge problem. Their carelessness and little concern for innocent bystanders proves that they are even more dangerous and need to be stopped.

Elephants close to extinction? by Vern Blossfeld

Summary: Ivory from an elephants tusk can be worth up to $30,000. Because of this, elephants, specifically in Africa, have become the targets of poachers. They get quick profit at the expense of the animals' lives. In August, a crucial tipping point was reached, at which point the number of deaths had elephants yearly had exceeded the amount of those born. 40,000 African elephants are killed a year, to be sold in curiosity China shops and around the world! Few elephants would die if ivory had little to no value. There are vital roles those in the United States could play in order to drop ivory value and increase the number of elephants alive. First, we can stop buying any items containing ivory. Second, we can ban any domestic sales or trade of ivory here. If we do this, we may be able to save the elephants.
Analysis: This relates to world history because animal extinction is an international issue, and trade is an aspect of what's causing the decline in the elephant species. If the price of ivory is to drop, all nations must come together to ban its trade and protect the elephants. I think this is an important issue because whenever we lose a species of animal, it's gone for good.

5 Detained College Students by Deandra Whitmill

5 college students were detained after doing the hunger games salute in front of Thailand's Prime Minister. They're being charged with breaking martial law. The students were taken to a Thai Army facility where they refused to sign papers. They were released a few hours later. They got the gesture from Katniss on the hunger games and used it as a revolution against the government.A cinema in Bangkok banned the movie because of the incident.

I believe that they should protest against a tyrannical government depending on the problems that are going on. If the people are not getting what they want they should try to change it in a nice, sensible way. If they cant handle it with the tyrant in that way then they might have to protest in order to get right's for the people.

Improving mental healthcare in China by Vern Blossfeld

Summary: China's first private special needs school was set up in 1985 by Meng Weina in the southern city of Guangzhou. She was motivated to help those overlooked by China's healthcare system and stigmatized by society. "We estimate that only 10% of people with intellectual disabilities in China are receiving some kind of care or help," says Weina. Around 173 million Chinese people have a mental disorder. But there are only 20,000 psychiatrists, equaling 1.5 for each 100,000 people.
Negative perceptions of those with metal health problems are often shown in the media in China; they are either victims or perpetrators of violence, and are typically shunned by society. Weina knows that each individual that comes to a Hui Ling center has their own set of needs and unique personality, and helping bring out their best encourages her to keep working. Her job is incredibly important to her.
Analysis: These statistics are really sad. The thought that only 10% of mentally disabled people in China are receiving help is mind-blowing. If all goes well, Weina's efforts will not be in vain, and the mental healthcare legislation will be passed in China. One thing's for sure; the people going to Hui Ling are in great hands. This all relates to world history because throughout history mentally ill people have had to struggle to get the care and acceptance they need to survive, and this struggle is still going on today worldwide.

Edible tableware by Vern Blossfeld

Summary: Do you ever feel guilty throwing away a plastic tray of lunch food, or a Styrofoam cup? The lives of these tableware items are short-lived and wasteful. In Hekinan, a Japanese fishing town, a small family business is offering a greener alternative. Sakakibara Katsuhiko is the innovator of this great invention, known as edible tableware. The future of this invention? Sakakibara Katsuhiko says, "Japan will host the Tokyo Olympic Games in six years' time, and I want to provide edible plates for the Games (in 2020)."
Analysis: This is really cool! Whenever I hear about inventions like this my reaction is to think "Why didn't I think of that?". Throwing away plastic cups and plates always comes with a guilty feeling, but if you're able to eat the plate after you're done with the meal that would be the end of it! I guess the only issue is the plate getting dirty at the bottom or something, where it's touching the table. I suppose you could put a napkin underneath it so it wouldn't make contact with the tabletop. I hope this edible tableware idea is spread throughout the world to cut down on waste!

Ferguson is Back- Quentin Noble 2

Ferguson, Missouri, The place where all the crazy protests have happened is not healed yet. The cops are hard to find and discriminated again. The white and African American population is segregated and keeps to their own sides of the town. Moni Basu of Cnn gives a great explanation.
I Believe this could have a serious affect on our country. It will cause influence to make people more inclined to protest or it will give people a preliminary thought on how to view people. They are worried that the jury verdict will cause more uproar. I believe this is true because it will just bring up old matters that were thrown under the bus.

"'I used to see my dad in my dreams:' Syria's children recall horrors of war" By: Emma Wall

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/18/world/meast/syria-orphans-damon-impact-your-world/index.html?hpt=wo_c2
In the article an interviewer asks a little girl questions about her loss.  The girl along with a bunch of other children have lost their dads due to sickness or violence.  The girl explains how she used to see her father in her dreams and now she doesn't anymore.  On another note, the girl also states that she saw her father dead at the door when the officials brought him home.  There is an interesting video that goes along with the article.

I personally was devastated when I read this because it is just absolutely awful that these children have to grow up without a parent.  I wish there was a way that I could help out the kids. I hope that these awful deaths come to a stop because it really is devastating.

Case Cockrell-11/18/14

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/18/politics/senate-keystone-vote-tuesday/index.html?hpt=po_c1

The senate has declined the passing of the KeyStone bill. The bil would make job opportunities much higher, causing the economy to most likely rise. "This is for Americans, for American jobs, to build an American middle class, and it will create 40,000 immediate jobs," Landrieu said on the Senate floor ahead of the vote. "If the people of this Congress haven't noticed, there's a long unemployment line in some parts of this country." The project would be too expensive is most likely the reason the bill didn't pass.

My analysis on this event is that the bill should bot have been a priority. We need to tend to our issues with foreign countries. Billions of dollars is going into war, while we should be benfeiting what really matters. Money is valuable, and we should be using it wisely.

Tons of Ivory Missing From Ugandan Government Vault by Bella Dekhtyar

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/nov/17/ivory-missing-ugandan-government-vault

On Monday, an anti-corruption watchdog investigated in Uganda's wildlife protection agency after a ton of ivory, worth over 1 million dollars, disappeared from a Ugandan vault. Law enforcement questions why exactly the ivory was originally piling up instead of being used and destroyed. Reports say the Ugandan president, Yoweri Museveni, has ordered the Inspectorate of Government to start a formal investigation. The UN environmental program states that criminal suppliers run the global shipments of ivory and that corruption is fueling the trade. The situation is being called, "a breakdown of systems", within the country's bureaucracy. Watchdog groups believe that this sets a bad example for the ministry of tourism, and shows how little government systems are working.

I agree that this sets a bad example for government systems. Having something as immense as this go right under their noses shows how little control the government has over its trade and security. Investigations like these would not need to happen if precautions are taken in the first place.

Charles Manson allowed to marry Mariela Lomeli

The criminal, Charles Manson, has been granted a license  to marry a 26 year old woman when he is at the young age of 80. The American mass murderer is serving a life sentence for the death of seven people and one unborn child. This happened in Los Angeles in 1969. The bride to be states" Y'all can know that it's true...it's going to happen." I love him," she added. He is not eligible for bidding for freedom until 2027.
This man who reportedly stabbed and shot the life of people just pops out of nowhere to proclaim marriage. What in the world is this? There is a limit in age difference when it comes to age gaps. This age of man is in the age of being her great-grandfather. This man led many people to suffer in agony to hear their beloved's death and he just is getting married. I'm not a pro on this subject but marriage=happiness or either marriage=commitment so how can he commit if he is in jail? How can he provide for his granddaughter --- I mean "wife"--- if he is locked up for eternity?

Women took a cab in Indonesia and ended up in jail later that day because she was sharing a cab with a stranger that had illigal drugs so everyone in the cab got irrested.

I think that's a load of baloni because if I was taking a cab with a random person that had drugs then I got irrested for it I would start doing what ever I can to my self out of the situation because I didn't do anything to cause it so why should I get blamed for it!!

"Surgeon stricken with Ebola in Sierra Leone arrives in Nebraska" by Tashina A

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/15/health/nebraska-ebola-patient/index.html?c=us

Just when the news of Ebola outbreaks seemed to come to an end, think again. A surgeon was diagnosed with Ebola and then taken to the U.S. treatment center in Omaha, Nebraska. The article said that the patient arrived in critical condition and nurses compared his state to be as bad as Duncan. The situation was said to be an hour by hour situation due to his horrible condition. As it typically works with this disease, the public can only wait to see what happens.

I find it really unfortunate that this disease is still causing issues. At least companies like Facebook are trying to get people to donate to help pay for Ebola treatment. It's horrible that a man who was trying to help others ended up with Ebola. Overall, I still feel like more could be done.

Anonymous engages in a cyberwar with the KKK over Ferguson threats - Natalia Hernandez 1st Period

The KKK and Anonymous are engaging in a "cyber war" because of KKK's threats of using "Lethal Force" against Ferguson protesters.
What happened in Ferguson?
Michael Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old black teenager, was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 9, by Darren Wilson, a police officer, in Ferguson, Mo.after the teen had stolen some cigarettes and scuffled with the Officer for the gun. For days, people marched and chanted along West Florissant Avenue, not far from where the shooting took place and, for brief periods, the protests grew violent. Stores were looted, and the police said demonstrators threw gasoline bombs and tried to set fires. The police used tear gas and rubber bullets. Protesters said the police response was an overreaction to just a few in the otherwise peaceful crowd.
Back to the Anonymous against KKK, because of their threats Anonymous began publicly revealing identities and personal information (aka "Doxing"), hacking into KKK twitters and seizing control of websites.
Anonymous Australia release a video announcing a campaign of cyberwar against the racist organization.
Operation KKK
Analysis:
I can't say whether or not I dissent or assent. Obviously, this seems like it might not be too effective in discouraging the KKK, and although I would never side with such a racist, and bizarre organization I can't help but think this is a very uncivilized way of dealing with the KKK's Fergson Protesters threats. I do believe that it is incorrect and heinous for the KKK to threaten Ferguson Protesters with "Lethal Damage" Yet some of the Ferguson Protesters have used violence to protest, and have caused civil unrest in an otherwise peaceful (compared to neighboring suburbs) place. The KKK has a right to protect itself form violent attacks, but not to threaten protesters who want justice for the death of a teenager who was shot in a dubious situation where his death could have been avoided. Most protests have been peaceful, many protesters want to be heard, it is simply not a reason to be threatened, it is a right that we as people have been given, freedom of speech.

Best of both worlds by Ayanna Evans

Two weeks ago a 16 year old boy named Alex lee endured a complete 360 to his life. Alex was a normal teen who got in trouble for having a messy room, went to high school, and loved playing sports.Little did he know that when he went to work at target the next day his life was about to change. On Sunday november his dad did the usual and took him to work after church. Alex was a cashier at SuperTarget ok n El dorado parkway. A teenage girl thought Alex was a cutie and snuck a picture of Alex while he was bagging her things and later posted it on twitter with the caption "YOOOOOO". This picture soon was everywhere on the internet and the hash tag AlexFromTarget was born. Since becoming Internet famous Alex has been on Ellen Degeneres show to explain his thought kn the situation with nothing but positive thoughts.

This event is really funny and cute to me. Also, I think that this story just shows how much on an effect social media can change someone's life in a matter of days. Alex Lee was a normal boy that became Internet famous all because of his good looks an a simple picture posted on twitter. Overall the interest and social media are the most powerful devices jn this generation.

Shooting at Minyards by Ayanna Evans

Two men were injured on Wenesday november 12th, outside of a Minyards grocery store located in east oak cliff. Officers responded to a 911 call around 9:45 that night. Names were not given away, but witnesses say that the suspect and the victim got into an argument that took place inside of the store. The men later decided to take it outside where the 2nd victim was met. The suspect then pulled out a handgun and shot both men. One of the victims was able to run back inside for help. The security guard then went outside and tried to shoot at the suspect but her got away in a white van. Police say that it was unclear if he was hurt. Both victims were taken to Baylor hospital and are in stable condition.

These type of events scare me into just staying home. This event really frightened me because I live literally live 2 minutes away from that Minyards store. Thank goodness I was at school when this took place and that I wasn't there. I feel like the securite/police should have broken this up long before it got escalated and taken to outside. I'm also very glad that nobody else was injured and I'm glad that the 2 men are ok. I believe that violence is not the answers to solving amd it NEVER WILL BE!

Baby body parts found in Bangkok package destined for US- Natalia Hernandez 1st Period

 http://news.yahoo.com/baby-body-parts-found-bangkok-package-destined-us-080911956.html

Body parts of babies, and not just one but several were discovered in a parcel from Thailand to the U.S. "They were not from one body but were in small pieces," Police Major General Chawalit Prasopsin told AFP on Sunday, and not only were there baby body parts but there were "sheets" of skin taken from an adult with a very large tattoo. In a more detailed manner of explanation, there was a baby's head, several feet and sheets of skin, all from infants except the said mentioned adult. They were all in containers of formaldehyde solution for preservation which lead the police to speculate that they were "a collection or for educational purposes". Although it could as well be tied to Thai black magic rituals.

Analysis:
I'd like to first offer my condolences to anyone that had to suffer the loss of the children.
Its hard for me to write about such grisly news, and find no joy in doing so but nevertheless I was compelled to, because of the sheer atrocity that these news tell and inform of, and how they might create an instance in which people are more watchful for things like these. Its horrible what the news lead me to assume, I can only hope that the body parts were donated in Thai. I want others to know that though we live in vast contrast to other countries where these news might not be as much of a shock, there are still grievous instances, and we should be aware in order to keep acute watch for anything similar.

Isis Claims Responsibility For Car Bomb That Wounds Five Near Baghdad Airport by Savannah Boyack

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/nov/16/isis-claim-responsibility-car-bomb-baghdad-airport

A car bomb exploded at a security checkpoint near Baghdad's heavily guarded international airport complex on Sunday, injuring five people. Two hours later, a roadside bomb exploded three miles from the airport, killing three people and injuring seven. Isis claimed responsibility for these attacks and described them as their first suicide bomber to receive the Americans exiting from the airport. Yet, security and police sources stated that no Americans had been targeted.

One thing that stands out to me is the fact that Isis claimed they were targeting Americans but no Americans had been injured or present during the attacks. The reason for this may be because one of the victims had a very small connection to an American relative or the suicide bombers are very careless. If the latter is true, this makes Isis even more dangerous then they already are in my opinion.

This event is frightening because authorities are not sure what it is and it could possibly be a threat to the residents of paris. Also if the feline was spotted so close to DisneyLand Paris a popular and very crowded place, its probably not afraid of people

Current events-10/10-Case Cockrell

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/judiciary/index.html

It has been announced that the gay marriage ban has been lifted in Kansas! The request to make it illegal was denied by the supreme court. It has still yet to be legalized in Texas. It goes to show that  every court makes decisions differently. Gay Marriage has been a strange argumentthroughout the nation for a long time and it's time it comes to an end.

This is great news! I'm glad to see this issue is finally getting smaller. I hope it eventually gets legalized in Texas, and soon, the whole nation. I'm glad to see people are becoming more open minded about this touchy subject. It's something that everyone should be open to.

Unfair Punishment by Victoria Biro

Because of a corruption is his hometown, an investigator simply did his job and tried to solve the crime. Apparently, authorities did not want it solved, so they sentenced him to jail. Because of the unfair punishment there are now documentaries being made on the subject, and meetings being held solving political issues like this.
I think it is good that they are trying to solve the issue, but sad that the poor man is still being punished until they can find another way to teach him. The unfair treatment, though sad for him now, will improve the government as a whole, and prevent future social issues.

In New Delhi after a large amount of women went through sterilization surgery, 11 died. They were all payed 1400 rupees which is equivalent to $23, which was clearly not worth it.  Also, 62 were hospitalized out of the 80 injured during the procedure.
I think it is very sad that a government ran experiment led to such a tragedy. Even though they were paid (a small amount) it was unfair to try this on 80 women at once! They should've began with fewer women just in case of a problem arising. India must have been going through a time of a need to do such an extreme project.

Asian Leaders by Victoria Biro

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in a conference in Beijing. This showed the amount of tension between the two countries and their governments. They did shake hands, but they were not friendly at all.
I understand that they do not agree on all topics (in politics, government, or social aspects) but I do think they should try to have peace with each other. As leaders in countries near each other, they will have many encounters involving trade or politics, so they should try to be hostile.

Hong Kong Military by Victoria Biro

Because of violent attempts to overthrow the government, the Hong Kong military is setting up protection near the mobs.
The Chinese government is known for being very stable and strong, so times like this effect their reputation.
I think it is good that they are going through some issues though because as a whole this will make their country stronger.  The citizens are also learning what freedoms they have and what they don't.

Arab Protests by Victoria Biro

In the Middle East, there is an unrest of Arab rebels against president Hosni Mubarak, and autocratic ruler.  This created the new idea of parliamentary elections which appointed Mohamed Morsi the new president. More protests, though, came against this leader in 2013 so a new president was elected: Abdel Fattah (a former general).
I think it's a good thing that the government is allowing for political differences, because this is freedom for the people. This is also a flaw in the system though, because by trying to accommodate the people, it causes instability.

With less and less catching this disease in Mali but in other regions, it so said a while family died from this disease while some cases are lowering. when adding this up, if Ebola grows enough, which may not happen, it will be like the Black Plague or small pocs. what will we do then?

"47 people killed in bombing outside Nigerian school; Boko Haram suspected" by Tashina Amiro

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/10/world/africa/nigeria-bombing/index.html?c=world

As if bad things never stop happening, there was another school bombing. In Nigeria, a suicide bomber disguised himself as a student and set off a bomb in a government boarding school. Unfortunately, the bomber killed 47 and injured 79. The police suspect the attack was done by Boko Haram. Apparently the group has performed deadly attacks towards schools in the past. Overall, the people seem very determined to have justice served.

Like all such bombings and attacks, I feel horrible for those directly affected. It's unfortunate that groups of people will kill and injure others and their own to prove a point. Hopefully light will be shed on why such an attack would occur or on who for sure did it. Until then, like in all cases, it is a waiting game.

Nigeria School Blast Kills Dozens by Bella Dekhtyar

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/nov/10/nigeria-school-bomb-blast

On Monday morning, today, an explosion occurred at a secondary school in Yobe, north-east Nigeria. Officials have found 47 people dead, and 79 others injured. The students were gathering for a morning assembly when a bomb went off at 7:50 a.m. So far, there is no definite claims to the responsibility of the attack, but officials believe Boko Haram militants are most likely supsects. The Boko Haram is an islamic group, who wants to create "a hardline Islamic sate in northern Nigeria." The group has been responsible for other deadly attacks on schools teaching "western" curriculum, which is against Islamic belief. In April, the group kidnapped 276 girls from the town of Chibok in Borno (north-east Nigeria). More than six months later, 219 of the girls are still being held. Boko Haram has seized at least two dozen towns towns and villages in recent months.

Not only has this affected the lives of hundreds of people, but there has also been a raising doubt about the government's ability to control the region. It is a delicate topic for many, and is an arousing issue for several years now. Until further precautions are taken, the people are still in doubt of how the government can maintain peace among the regions of northern Africa and beyond.

Central Command General to ISIS- Londyn Alexander pd:9

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/06/world/general-isis/index.html?c=world

ISIS has issued another threat. Claiming they" can hear" the U.S military. The Army General made these statements Thursday with the Atlantic council. Who seemed confident saying the previous airstrike launches by the US are having the desired effects. The General Also revealed our countries motives behind the attacks.

It's timely that the United States is having the advantage right now. I'm also very relieved, and proud that we can longer be greatly effected by their threats. In addition I believe ISIS will fall in the near future. This assumption is due to the increasingly Pleasent news, of American airstrikes being a success. This turn of events has broadcasted our country and shown the US in a positive light.

50 Arrested in Slaying a Christian couple in Pakistan- Londyn Alexander pd:9

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/06/world/asia/pakistan-couple-slain/index.html?hpt=wo_c2

After the murder of a Christian couple in Pakistan, 50 suspects have been arrested. Information has been released on the events that transpired. Reported beating and Burning of couple in a kiln, led to their death, according to the police. The couple was killed after being killed for disrespecting the Q'uran and were guilty of blasphemy. As a compensation the government has agreed to pay the couple's family $49,000. In addition to that the Provinces government has agreed to give 10 acres of land.

This is a tragic event that has once again occurred due to the issue of religion. I'm sure there are many other events similar to this that have transpired, and I'm glad the government is taking responsibility for its peoples actions. I think that the way things played out should almost be a required response. I hope in the future events such as these become less frequent, and as a society we can overcome the issue of religious differences.

Two Americansfreed by N.Korea Arrive back in the U.S - Londyn Alexander

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/09/world/asia/us-north-korea-detainees-released/index.html?hpt=wo_c2

Two Americans have recently been freed back to America, after their imprisonment in North Korea. The duo landed in a joint base in Washington. The two were greeted by emotional relatives and friends, when they exited of the plane. They are reportedly the last captives from the US being held.

I'm glad that all prisoners are now returned home and safe. I personally am not aware of the actions that led to their imprisonment, but absolutely feel the reparations were extreme. As a nation we've proved ourselves, especially since Obama wrote a letter directly addressing Kim Jong Un. Although these actions did not help the feud between the two countries. They were necessary and benefited the American society.

Protests Over Disappeared Mexican Students Intensifys

http://time.com/3574953/mexico-missing-students-protests/

There have been protests in Mexico calling for President Enrique Peña Nieto and Attorney General Jesús Murilla Karam to resign ever since the government announced that the 43 college kids that were missing since September were killed by a drug gang and burned in a pyre of branches and tires. These demonstrations have been largely peaceful until recently when a few masked demonstrators set fire to the door of Mexico City's ceremonial presidential palace. The mayor of Iguala, where the students went missing, has allegedly had ties to the drug gang since he first took office.

There is a lot of confusion and unconfirmed facts in this situation. Yes, the government    seems to not be at its best since they were not able to find the missing students. But we don't know for sure if the mayor of Iguala is connected to the drug gang and almost nothing else about the government's work on the case. No matter the amount of information we have or how many wrong decisions the government has made demonstrators should not have resorted to violence especially since they were doing a really good job in keeping the protest peacefull. I hope no one was hurt in the incident.

Remains could be of missing students by mark murillo

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/07/world/americas/mexico-missing-students/index.html?hpt=wo_c2

lately in Mexico , 43 students have gone missing.  A attorney says that the kids were abducted by police and then handed over to a gang which supposedly burned them. The attorney said that the police took the kids by the mayors orders. However some college kids think different, they say that the evidence is not valuble and that the kids might still be alive.

It scares me to know that in Mexico kids are being taken by the POLICE and then handed over to gangs? It's sad that in Mexico you can't even trust the police or even the mayor since he told the police to take the children. I hope that things change sooner or later over there.

Obama sends troops to Iraq by mark murillo

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/07/politics/obama-sends-troops-to-iraq/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

With all of the Isis conflicts going on, Obama has decided to send more troops to Iraq to help with this problem. In fact he sent 1500 troops, which are going to help in non combat roles and just operate from bases. Instead , they train Kurdish and Iraqi to help them fight against Isis.

I think it's good that Obama sent more troops out to Iraq, they really need the help. It's even better that they are training the people from there beach use the more, the better.

Current Event- 11/4/14- Case Cockrell

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/11/07/white-house-expected-to-approve-dod-request-to-double-number-us-soldiers-in/?intcmp=latestnews

Obama has announced that he is going to send more troops into Iraq. Currently, there are a few more than 1000 troops in Iraq. Obama also suggested 5.6 billion dollars for the war against the Islamic state. The US has been constantly been launching air strikes on Iraq, causing many conflicts. The US to leaders in Iraq, and they have not been able to reach an agreement, it looks like the conflict will not end any time soon.

I think the amount of money being spent on this conflict is absolutely ridiculous. Obama needs to be mindful and focus on reaching an agreement with the leaders in Iraq and stop spending ridiculous amounts of money. We need peace, not war.

ISIS captures children by mark murillo

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/04/world/meast/isis-kobani-children-torture-allegation/index.html

Boys from the ages 14-16 were captured by Isis members after they were heading home after there test at school. Girls were also captured but the boys said they let them go after a couple of hours. The boys were living in harsh conditions, they would bath once every two weeks and would sleep on the floor. The boys were often beat for no reason and were forced to watch the crimes of Isis including there beheadings .

I feel sorry for the boys that were captured and for the people that live around there. I bet there scared knowing that they can't go outside without running into or being captured a Isis member .

"'Mum thinks I'm an idiot': Australian man admits 'surfing' dead whale was bad idea" By Emma Wall

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/03/world/asia/australia-man-dead-whale/index.html?hpt=wo_t4

This article talks about a dare devil from Australia who jumps into the water and climbs aboard a dead whale that is surrounded by sharks.  It says that even though he had no fear he would definitely not do that again.  He also confesses that he was an idiot for doing that.

I honestly thought this was absolutely hilarious!  There is a video of the man launching into the water and I couldn't stop laughing because it was so casual. Furthermore, I do understand that it is EXTREMELY dangerous and adding on to that thought, I would never EVER think of doing that.  I highly recommend going and watching the video and reading the article because it is really entertaining!

Is Ebola Outbreak Entering New Phase?

with more than 6,500 cases and 2,413 deaths, Liberia is one most affected countries in the current Ebola outbreak as of October 31. Even though they cases have been declining, experts believe it is still too soon to believe Ebola is entering a "new phase". numbers in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea are much better than those predicted (about 21,000 predicted) with just about 13,500 cases in all three countries combined. However, numbers are still too high. Experts believe we can stay hopeful, but its not soon enough to stop being cautious.
One of the biggest concerns as of now is the scattering of the disease into more rural areas of Africa. While populations are lower and homes are more scattered, it is much further from medical attention and research facilities.
I think that Ebola will not be an issue in America, regarding how cautious we are and how much technology we can afford. However, i still think that Ebola will not decline as much in Africa, specially in the hard to reach rural areas.

Missouri ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional, court rules

http://news.yahoo.com/missouri-ban-same-sex-marriage-unconstitutional-court-rules-223503392.html
More than 30 U.S. states permit same-sex couples to marry. "As Missourians get to know married same-sex couples and their families, they will see clearly that their marriages are based on love, commitment and an interest in caring for their families," said Marc Solomon, director of the national campaign for the Freedom to Marry advocacy group. However, a St. Louis judge banned  same-sex marriage in Missouri, claiming it unconstitutional. He claimed that same sex marriage is not "legitimate government interest."
I don't feel as if i have enough knowledge about same-sex marriage's impact on the country. However, i believe that what ever happens between two people, male or female, should not be corrupted or even judged if it is not hurting them or anybody else.

Pics Match Slay Scene, Suspect David Kalac on Run:

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/4chan-pics-match-slay-scene-suspect-david-kalac-run-investigators-n241806

Photos found online match the scene of a brutal slaying of a woman in Washington. The photos were posted on an online website/forum called 4chan by Michael Kalac. the victim's driver's license was found beside her head with the word "dead" written on it. The words "she killed me first" were also written on the bedroom wall, and "bad news"  written on the windows. He is currently being investigated.
There was no specific cause of death found. However, homicidal trauma was evident.
What Kevin did was wrong. Morally and legally. Killing that woman was wrong, putting up those pictures afterwards was stupid.

Marijuana in Oregon: Reagan Leslie

On Tuesday, Oregon was the third state in America to legalize marijuana. Washington D.C. is one step ahead of them because they will soon be able to grow and process pot legally. It was a hard journey to get marijuana legalized. Oregon, Washington D.C., and Colorado teamed up permitting the use of marijuana. Although the federal government still accuses pot as a illegal drug, a lot of states have legalized marijuana, which brought million of dollars in taxes. There has been recent buzz about Oregon that they will let people grow and possess marijuana legally in July. To be honest, I don't think marijuana should be legalized because the drug can cause many problems. Although it is a medicine, I still think that they should use an alternative instead of marijuana. I completely on board with the states that don't allow marijuana. http://news.yahoo.com/marijuana-legalization-movement-declares-election-day-victory-061232865.html

Muslim Cleric shot dead by Deandra Whitmill

Salim Bakari Mwarangi, a vocal critic of Somalia's al-Shabab Islamist group, was shot after evening prayers on Tuesday.Six clerics have been killed in Mombasa since 2012.The BBC's Robert Kiptoo in Mombasa says he had received death threats from those who accused him of being too close to the government."I do not fear for my safety," he had said at his fourth floor flat in the Majengo area of Mombasa."I know they are going to kill me. But I am a true Muslim. I believe I will only die the day Allah has ordained for me to die. Not a moment before, not a moment after."

He wasn't scared to die because he had probably lived his life right up until now. He didn't have anything else to lose , so he had no reason to be scared.

Hillary Clinton winning Midterms: Reagan Leslie

The votes have been casted. The easy answer is the Republican Party. On the election night, they seemed to gain control by the Senate and picked up at least seven seats held by Democrats. American seemed disillusioned by President Barack Obama, a percent of 54 disapproved his performance as president, and 65 percent said that the country is going the wrong way in success. Usually, the long time mid term winner wasn't even on the ballot this year. Surprisingly, a woman named Hillary Clinton won the 2014 mid term elections. GOP is celebration the victory now, which is good. Any election that ends with Republicans into the governor's mansion in Illinois and Maryland is getting worked up about. Although I am not a fan of the Republican party, I think that it's good that Hillary Clinton had this victory. I just hope that in the next couple of years, Democrats win instead of Republic. http://news.yahoo.com/how-hillary-clinton-won-the-2014-midterms-075943434.html

Dying Dad writes Son letters

Simon Langston wrote a series of letters to his son Alfie Langston before his departure of the world. Simon was diagnosed with a tumor in the middle of his brain. Doctors stated that he only has 6 months to live. During this time he renewed his vows with his wife, and had a national fundraising party to help make awareness for his kind of conditions. The letters are to be opened on Alfie's special occasions (wedding, when he passes his drivers test, graduation, etc)

I just wanted to write this current event even though is isn't dealing with the world. it warmed my heart to see that this man still is trying to make everything better despite his current condition. I know little Alfie will be pleased and blessed for his father actions towards him.

New Israeli Law Could See Stone-Throwers Sentenced to 20 Years- M'Lynn Musgrove

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/middle-east-unrest/new-israeli-law-could-see-stone-throwers-sentenced-20-years-n239806

In the middle east, many kids are blamed for rocks being thrown everywhere. Now, if a rock is thrown it is quite possible you will get a sentence or a less server punishment.

I think this is ridiculous. These kids have nothing and I don't think its wrong for them to enjoy themselves by throwing rocks. Its not even a big deal!!!!

The last Pirate Bay founder has finally been caught and arrested M'Lynn Musgrove

http://www.engadget.com/2014/11/04/last-pirate-bay-founder-arrested/?%3Fncid=rss_full

The last of the pirate bay founders have been arrested. Pirate bay is one of the most popular sharing websites online. Out of 3, this guy was the last one left. Now that he is arrested, you might think the website would be shut down. It isn't. There are many other people who have taken pirate bay up in absence of the founders. Pirate Bay lives on.

I think stuff like this isn't too big of a deal. I find it funny that people made it such a wild goose chase to find these men when in fact the site is still running, and there are tons of other file sharing sites on the enter net.  On Megashare you can watch tons of pirated videos and movies. Most kids I know use this website. I believe this was a over rated story.

Teenager who ran Canadian prostitution ring jailed M'Lynn Musgrove

http://news.yahoo.com/teenager-ran-canadian-prostitution-ring-jailed-225127977.html

An 18 year old girl controls a massive prostitution ring using other teenagers. After being caught at 15, and put into Canada's version of juvy for 3 years, she is getting an adult sentence as well. The girl functioned her business through social media. Her and an accomplice would lure girls to a house and trick or force them into doing drugs. They would then send them off in a taxi to buyers.

I think this is insane. I feel like another teenage girl would be a little more sympathetic to girls getting taken advantage of, but she was the one putting them under the danger. I wonder if she has something in her past that would lead her to be so crazy. The article doesn't give much on the background of the girl but I would like to research it more.

deaths decision makenzye prince

Brittany Maynard, 29, took a lethal prescription provided by a doctor to end her life. She died in her bed Nov. 1 after leaving family and friends a final farewell message. Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and given only months to live. The Vatican's top ethicist condemned Brittany Maynard's decision to end her life, saying there was no dignity in her physician-assisted death.

i do not agree with the fact that she chose to end her life. dignity or not its wasn't a plausible decision. She was a beautiful girl and even though her death was going to be long and painful i don't believe her decision was well thought. My prayers goes out to her family and friends s they mourn over their beloveds loss

'Mum thinks I'm an idiot': Australian man admits 'surfing' dead whale was bad idea by Emily Henderson

'Mum thinks I'm an idiot': Australian man admits 'surfing' dead whale was bad idea by Emily Henderson
Recently an Australian man jumped off a boat onto a dead whale carcass. However, tiger and great white sharks surrounded the carcass. Harrison Williams, 26, admitted that he saw the sharks before and that he is a total idiot.
The publisher of this article was CNN, obviously a trustworthy and unbiased source. This article was updated 9:19 AM EST, Mon November 3, 2014, making it very current. My prior knowledge of the subject leads me to the conclusion that this man is lucky to be alive and is even more of an idiot that most people may think. Tiger sharks, Great Whites and Bull sharks are the most aggressive of all sharks and he was surrounded by 2/3 near their food source. This article seems to be written for the general public, showing them how truly stupid some people can be. The main idea of this article is that Australia is dangerous and this man is a complete and total idiot. And the significance is that some people are actually stupid enough to jump into shark infested waters WHEN THEY SEE THE 16 FOOT LONG SHARKS EATING.
